Maternal Ancestors

The known beginning of this ancestral part of my family begins with MATTHIAS AYRES who was born in England about 1700. He married ELIZABETH HALES there. They came to the Colony of Virginia apparently in the 1730s.
Matthias and Elizabeth's children were (may not be in correct birth sequence):
1. MARY "Mollie" AYRES was born about 1732 in the Virginia Colony and died about 1812 in Virginia, USA. She married CHARLES GARROTT about 1747 in the Virginia Colony. He was born about 1720 in Amelia County of the Virginia Colony and died about 1782 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. They had six children.
2. SAMUEL AYRES was born about 1735 in the Virginia Colony.
3. JOHN AYRES was born in 1740 in the Virginia Colony and died in March 1828 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. He married JANE SALLE. She was born in 1761 and died in 1848. They had ten children.
4. Col. NATHAN AYRES was born in 1842 in Albemarle County of the Virginia Colony and died on 16 January 1822 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. He married MARY CHRISTIAN LEAKE in Goochland County of the Virginia Colony in 1767. She was born about in 1751 in Goochland County of the Virginia Colony and died in 1793 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. They had eleven children.
Nathan and Mary's children were:
4a. JUDITH AYRES was born on 01 October 1768 in Buckingham County of the Virginia Colony and died about 1850. She married MOSES R. SPENCER on 06 January 1786 in Virginia, USA. He was born 03 January 1763 and died in 1836 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. They had eleven children.
4b. JOHN "Parson Jack" AYRES was born on 22 January 1772 in Buckingham County of the Virginia Colony and died between 1851 and 1860 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. He was married 1: to a Miss AMALETTE and they had one daughter. He was married 2: on 15 August 1793 to ELIZABETH BRANSFORD, She was born on 30 May 1772. They had ten children. He also married JUDITH HANES (date unknown).
4c. SAMUEL AYRES was born on 19 July 1774 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA.
4d. NATHAN AYRES, JR. was born on 19 December 1776 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA and died on 19 April 1821 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. He married CATHERINE CAVE BROWN in December 1808. She was born about 1785. They had eight children.
4e. WALTER LEAKE AYRES was born on 106 April 1779 in Buckingham County, Virginia and died on 21 May 1838 in Woodford County, Kentucky, USA. He married AGNES MAXEYon 11 December 1800. She was born on 29 July 1781 and died on 25 September 1837. They had nine children.
4f. MATTHIAS AYRES was born on 31 August 1781 in Buckingham County, Virginia and died in 1851 in Saline County, Missouri, USA. He married 1: SUSANNAH BABER before 1810 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. She was born on 27 May 1788 and died on 19 May 1813. They had no children. He married 2: NANCY GILLIAM HOWELL on 19 January 1814. She was born on 01 September 1795 and died on 04 March 1884. They had thirteen children.
4g. ELIZABETH "Betsey" AYRES was born on 26 February 1784 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. She married 1: a Mr. ROBERTS about 1802. She then married 2: PHILLIP MAXEY on 19 January 1814. He was born about 1782.
4h. MARY AGNES "Polly"AYRES was born on 08 April 1786 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA and died on 13 March 1858 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA. She married AARON FUQUA on 10 December 1802 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. He was born on 11 October 1775 in Virginia, USA and died on 22 March 1855 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA.

4ha. WILLIAM FUQUA was born on 12 November 1803 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA and died on 02 Aug 1859. He was married LUCY BUCKNER THORTON on 18 November 1835 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA. She was born on 15 Sep 1812 and died on 27 Jun 1868. They had two children.
4hb. ELIZABETH A. FUQUA was born on 15 March 1805 in Virginia, USA and died on 21 August 1856 in Miller County, Missouri, USA. She married JOSEPH SAMUEL ADCOCK, SR. on 22 August 1822 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA. He was born on 03 December 1798 in Virginia, USA and died on 26 October 1863 in Miller County, Missouri, USA. They had six children.

4hc. MARY LEAKE FUQUA was born on 02 April 1807 and died on 25 Sep 1845. She married RICHARD TOMPKINS BRADLEY on 08 March 1827 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA. He was born about 1800. No known children.
4hd. SARAH ANN FUQUA was born on 03 December 1808 and died on 08 Jun 1841. She married BENJAMIN BOISSEAU on 10 March 1831 in Logan County, Kentucky. He was born about 1802. They had one daughter.
4he. JUDITH FUQUA was born on 05 August 1810 and died on 23 Jun 1889. She married on 01 June 1837 to ADDISON THORNTON. He was born about 1804. No known children.
4hf. JANE AYRES FUQUA was born on 02 December 1812 and died on 22 Jun 1889. She married ROBERT WILLIAMS on 19 November 1835 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA. He was born about 1806. No known children.
4hg. DRUCILLA FUQUA was born on 28 March 1815 and died on 10 November 1833 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA. She never married.
4hh. MARTHA CATHERINE FUQUA was born on 12 April 1817. She married JOHN C. DARBY on 19 November 1835 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA. He was born about 1812. No known children.
4hi. AARON FUQUA, JR. was born on 12 May 1819. He married ELIZA G. COGHIL on 08 August 1844. She was born about 1826. No known children.
4hj. NATHAN AYRES FUQUA was born on 02 August 1821. He married ELIZABETH HAREN MORROW on 17 August 1837. She was born about 1819. No known children.
4hk. Dr. JOHN SAMUEL FUQUA was born on 09 February 1824 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA and died before 26 May 1856 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA.
4hl. JEMIMA FUQUA was born on 12 January 1827 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA. She married AMBROSE G. COGHIL about 1845. He was born about 1824. No known children.
4hm. KEZIA FUQUA was born on 07 March 1829 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA and died on 24 July 1833 in Logan County, Kentucky, USA.
4i. PETER LEAKE AYRES was born on 04 February 1789 in Virginia, USA and died on 01 December 1849 near Eldridge Mill, Buckingham County,Virginia, USA. He married 1) ELEANOR TANDY HOLMAN on 23 December 1813 in Virginia, USA. She was born 07 January 1798 in Virginia, USA and died on 04 September 1835 in Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio, USA. They had ten children. He married 2) REBECCA WEST after 1835. No known children.
4j. JANE "Jean" AYRES was born on 14 May 1791 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA and died in 1845 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA, She married WILLIAM HOLMAN on 23 September 1807. He was born in 1785 and died in 1823. They had one son.
4k. MARTHA Patsy" AYRES was born on 11 August 1793 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA and died on 24 February 1837 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. She married Colonel JESSE HOLMAN on 18 October 1808 in Virginia. He was born in 1786. They had two sons.
5. MATTHIAS AYRES, (Jr?) was born about 1750 in the Virginia Colony and died in 1803. He married MARY HOWELL about 1773 in the Virginia Colony. She was born about 1756. They had five children.
6. EDMUND AYRES was born about 1756 in Albemarle County of the Virginia Colony and died in 1807 in Buckingham County, Virginia, USA. He married BEDE MAXEY in Prince Edward County, Virginia, USA in 1785. She was born about 1765. No known children.
