JOHN ROSS born about 1695 in Scotland married about 1735 in Virginia to SARAH ?____ born about 1705 probably in Virginia. Among their children, JAMES ROSS, born on 28 September 1744 in Hanover County, Virgina married JEAN LOVING on 17 February 1766 in Goochland Co, Virginia and had five children. Their youngest daughter was MARY "Polly" ROSS born on 10 July 1775 in Amherst Co, Virginia. John and Sarah's youngest son, DAVID ROSS, born on 23 May 1749 in Hanover County,Virginia married SUSANNAH SUDDRETH and had 17 children, 15 of whom were living in 1805. David & Susannah's eldest son named BENJAMIN ROSS was born about 1770-1774 in Virginia.

Although first cousins, BENJAMIN ROSS born about 1770-1774 and MARY "Polly" ROSS born on 10 July 1775 married each other about 1795 in Greenville County, South Carolina which was not unusual on the frontier in those days. Benjamin and Polly were in Greenville County, South Carolina with one son and three daughters under age 10 in the 1800 US Census. Benjamin moved his family containing seven children to Logan County, Kentucky in 1806.
The 1810 US Census for Logan County, Kentucky shows Benjamin with two sons under age 10, himself age 26-45, one daughter under age 10, two daughters age 10-16, Polly age 26-45, and either his mother or mother-in-law age over 45. This shows that two of the children had apparently died before the June 1810 census. Unfortunately, the names of those two children are not known.
The 1820 US Census for Logan County, Kentucky shows that Benjamin and Polly had had an additional three children totalling at least twelve. Unfortunately, not all of their names are presently known (see below). I am searching for additional information which might provide more details about the children of this marriage. I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone that has additional data to prove (or disprove) any of these relationships. The locations where Benjamin and Polly died have not been found nor has a will for either one been located yet, either.

FRANCIS LOVING "Frank" ROSS born on 31 December 1796 in Greenville County, South Carolina, died on 24 January 1866 in Morgan County, Missouri, married on 20 February 1820 in Logan County, Kentucky to JANE MURRAH born on 19 September 1798 in Burke County, North Carolina. Frank moved the family to Morgan County, Missouri about 1840.

1a. DANIEL D. ROSSs, born in 1821 in Logan County, Kentucky, married on 18 August 1853 in Morgan County, Missouri to MARIA FRANCES MEADOWS, born in 1834 in Virginia. Two children.
1b. WILLIAM PERRY ROSS, born 20 August 1823 in Dallas County, Alabama, married on 27 September 1853 in Morgan County, Missouri to JOSEPHINE B. DAVIDSON, born on 05 November 1835 in Tennessee. Seven children
1c. ASA M. ROSSs, born on 28 July 1825 in Dallas County, Alabama, died on 10 March 1916 in Morgan County, Missouri. No known children.
2. SARAH "Sally" ROSS born on 10 January 1798 in Greenville County, South Carolina, married on 10 January 1821 in Logan County, Kentucky to SAMUEL MADOLE, born on 27 February 1798 in Pendleton County, South Carolina. They remained in Logan County, Kentucky for a while where all twelve of their children were born and then moved to Morgan County, Missouri in 1838-1839.

3. JANE ROSS born about 1801 in Greenville County, South Carolina, died before January 1838, married on 24 October 1819 in Logan County, Kentucky to JOHN ALVERSON born about 1798.

3a. IRENA ALVERSON born about 1820, married on 01 January 1838 in Bibb County, Alabama to JOHN SMITH born about 1817. No known children.
4. JESSE ROSS born on 05 September 1802 in Greenville County, South Carolina, married LEACY RANDLE HODGES born on 05 September 1812 in Georgia. Their children were all born in Alabama between 1833 and 1841. Jesse had moved his family to Morgan County, Missouri during the late 1840s where they appear in the 1850 US Census.

4a. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN ROSS, born on 30 September 1832 in Alabama, married about 1853 in Newton County, Missouri to SARAH R. PRICE born September 1841 in Tennessee. Five children.
4b. JAMES MONROE ROSS, born on 01 December 1834 in Alabama, died on 14 June 1923 in Fredericktown, Madison Co, Missouri, married on 14 June 1859 in Granby, Newton Co, Missouri to IRENA REBECCA SLOAN born on 31 October 1838 in Newton County, Missouri, died on 03 July 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri. Seven children.
4c. GEORGE WASHINGTON ROSS, born on 07 April 1836 in Alabama, died on 10 April 1900 in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, married in July 1861 in Newton County, Missouri to MARTHA A. HUSKEY born in 1841 in St. Louis, Missouri, died on 30 April 1920 in Timpson, Shelby Co, Texas. Five children.
4d. SARAH JANE "Sallie" ROSS, born on 01 April 1839 in Alabama died before 1876 in Texas, married 1) about 1857 in Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory to WILLIAM SHANKLIN born about 1836, died before 1865, One Child; married 2) on 20 August 1865 in Hopkins County, Texas to JOSEPH H. BARCLAY born on 01 February 1836 in Missouri, died on 31 March 1909 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co, Texas. Three children.
4e. THOMAS JEFFERSON ROSS, born on 29 April 1841 in Alabama, died on 04 July 1923 in Clay County, Texas, married on 12 April 1866 in Hopkins County, Texas to NANCY CONNER born on 09 January 1843 in Indiana, died on 09 July 1921 in Hopkins County, Texas. Six children.
5. GARLAND WALKER ROSS born on 12 Septempber 1807 in Logan County, Kentucky, died on 18 January 1892 in Madison County, Texas, married on 22 October 1840 in Lauderdale County, Mississipi to ELIZABETH HODGES born on 31 August 1826 in Alabama, died on 07 September 1882 in Madison County, Texas.
