CHRISTIAN A. WYSS, Sr., born on 17 August 1810 in Gerzensee, Canton Bern, Switzerland, died on 20 September 1858 in Moniteau County, Missouri. Married on 29 August 1829 in Muri bei Bern, Canton Bern, Switzerland to MARIA ELISABETH STEINER born on 26 Sep 1807 in Heimberg, Canton Bern, Switzerland, died on 15 November 1882 in Moniteau County, Missouri.
Christian's and Elisabeth's children were:
1. ELISABETH WYSS born on 02 May 1831 in Gerzensee, Canton Bern, Switzerland, died on 11 January 1848 in Gerzensee, Canton Bern, Switzerland.
This Christian Wyss family arrived in New York on 20 June 1851 on the Belgian bark "Virgin Mary" (having sailed from Antwerp) with the following nine chldren. It is listed as the "Beliza Ban Winge Marie" on the Ancestry.com web site. They traveled westward to Tuscarawas County, Ohio where they purchased land in December 1851. During 1855, Christian moved the family to Linn Township of Moniteau County, Missouri. Christian died there in 1858 and Elisabeth maintained the farm with the help of the older sons until her death in 1882.
2. ANNA WYSS born on 13 December 1831 in Gerzensee Canton Bern, Switzerland. Married in 1857 in Moniteau County, Missouri to JACOB EGGIMAN born on 12 September 1819 in Barren (Bargen?), Canton Bern, Switzerland.
3. CHRISTIAN A. WYSS, Jr., born on 07 March 1834 in Gerzensee, Canton Bern, Switzerland, died on 16 October 1864 in Jefferson City, Missouri from wounds received in action on 07 October in the Civil War battle of Jefferson City. Never married.
4. JOHANNES "John" WYSS born on 25 July 1836 in Gerzensee, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Married about 1866 in Moniteau County, Missouri to MARY ANN SCHULZE born on 02 July 1846 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.

8. ROSINA WYSS born on 28 Oct 1845 in Gerzensee, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Married on 16 March 1868 in Moniteau County, Missouri to JOHANNES "John" REUSZER born on 23 March 1842 in Steffisburg, Canton Bern, Switzerland.
9. GOTTLIEB "George" WYSS born on 11 Apr 1848 in Gerzensee, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Married 1) to MARY CAROLINE EDMONDS in 1880 in Walker, Missouri. Married 2) on 04 April 1904 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to ANNA REBECCA KELLOUGH born on 11 September 1866 in Ross County, Ohio.
