CHAPTER ONE: "Snack Time"

Edna was bored and hungry.  It was Thursday, one of those evenings when Tim would eat and run, for he was forever going to one meeting or another.  She never seemed to get enough to eat on those evenings, and here she was, opening the refrigerator door again, to see if there was something to snack on. Finally, Edna decided she would eat her regular standby, a tuna sandwich.  It seemed as though Edna could eat tuna any time of the day or night.  She was crazy about tuna.  In fact, you could say Edna was a
_  _  _  _     _  _  _.

[Fill in the blanks with 4 letters plus 3 letters that form a palindrome to end that sentence.]

Deciding she wanted something more to eat, Edna knew she should eat something non-fat and healthful and wondered if she could find a piece of melon and a slice of lemon.   Unfortunately, they were both out of season, and there were
_  _    _  _  _  _  _  _ ,    _  _    _  _  _  _  _ .

[a 2-letter word plus a 6-letter word, plus a 2-letter word plus a 5-letter word end that sentence with a palindrome that makes perfect sense.]
