CHAPTER EIGHTEEN: Talking Over the Trip
Versus Fixing Up the House -- Part II

Tim looked around the living room.  It looked pretty good to him.

"Well?,"  Edna insisted, in that way of hers.

"Well, honey, I think everything looks just fine."

"Oh, Tim, come on.... the paper's peeling off the wall."

"Where?  I can glue it...."

"No... I don't want you to glue it.  I hate the color.  I hate the pattern."

"Well, then honey, we can just paint over it, --- any color you say."

"That looks awful," she said, "It's tacky to paint over paper."

"All right, then," he replied, "We'll rent one of those machines to remove the paper and then we can paint the walls."

"That will take ages!, " she said, "And if we are going to drive all the way to the west coast, we'd better start before school ends and families with kids crowd the highways."

At last Tim knew what Edna really wanted.  She wanted to go on a honeymoon trip with him after all.  A slight smile began to appear on his face, and he took her in his arms.

"I'll tell you what, honey, we'll take our trip and have a good time and then when we come back you know what we'll do?"

"What?," she asked, and he whispered, "_  _  -  _  _  _  _  _."
