Beginnings: I had purchased my first home in late December of 2001. The garage had already been turned into a living space, complete with its own bathroom, kitchen and mini-fridge. Exits lead into to the house and to the outside. If you look at the first picture, you'll see some HORRIBLE paneling on the walls. But overall, it was a great space to turn into a gameroom. Work begins: I kept the panels on the wall and painted over them. But there was a lot of work required to smooth everything out. It took forever to fill in all the holes and the gaps between the panels. By the time of the second picture, I had all but one of the walls painted, except for the edges on the top and bottom. We used the room for a children's birthday party, as you can see in the second picture. Starting to come together: You'll see on the third picture, taken in late April, that things have finally starting to take shape. Rope lights along the top. Colored lights and black lights (overhead, and on a veritcal retro looking rocket stand) are in place. Fog machine creating a nice effect, along with the lighting. Seven of my vids were in there at that time. Future: Still so much to do! I want to paint the suspended ceiling, like they sometimes do in commercial spaces. Need to get an MP3 player and overhead speakers going. About 12 more vids to move in from storage. Posters and 80s memorabilia. Moving projected light images (gobos). Virtual message writer. Perhaps some sci-fi wall lettering and painting to get a spaceship theme going. Perhaps some neon accents. Humidifier for the winter.
