On Sunday March 16th we leave the Ramada Limited in Old Town San Diego (pictured at left) at 6:45 AM. There will be a buffet breakfast in the lobby starting about 6 AM. It will be chilly at that time of the morning, so I will be wearing some of my warmer clothes. See the picture of the interior of the plane for more details.
It is about a 2-hour bus ride from San Diego to Ensenada - on a very nice bus. The ride down the coast below Tijuana is very pretty.

Between the times we leave San Diego and board our plane in Ensenada:
- We will go through the border crossing. Officials may come aboard our bus to check us out.
- The Mexican government has an interesting way of random checking baggage; you push a button and if the light turns red they will inspect your bags, if it turns green they will not. Sometimes they make everyone push the button and other times they just have some of us push the button - we shall see.
- We will check in at the Ensenada airport where they will hand check our bags and process our tourist cards.
- Then we board our flight to the Lagoon.

| We will be flying in the Convair 340 pictured above or in a DC-3.
The picture to the left shows the interior of the Convair 340. My layers of clothes include; a short sleeve polo shirt, a long sleeve polo shirt and a polartec jacket. This time I will replace the polartic jacket with my quilted shirt (it is warmer). We already have the straps on our sunglasses.

| It's about a 2-hour flight to the lagoon - and then a short drive through the desert from the airstrip to Kuyima Camp where we will have lunch. |
| After lunch we will load into the pangas for the last leg of the trip. How far we need to wade to get to the pangas and how deep the water will be, will depend on tide. Some people change to shorts, some just roll up their pants (they will probably get wet). I like to wear a pair of Lycra workout shorts (sort of like bicycle shorts) under my jeans. I just slip off my jeans, put on my surf walkers, pick up a bag and then shuffle out to the boat. There are stingrays here, which is why we shuffle. |

| The picture on the left shows Bill getting out of a panga at Rocky Point. Be careful, the rocks can be slippery and it is a short climb up the rocks to camp.
Once we unload the people, we will form a "chain gang" and unload the supplies and luggage. This is one of the reasons for the 30 pound weight limit on our baggage.
