Privates Lessons or Group Classes?

Private lessons help bring attention and knowledge to your body's specific needs and limitations.  You’ll learn what serves you best.  A few private lessons before attending group classes will help beginners.  Privates are also recommended for those recovering from recent injuries or surgery.  Discounts available for prepaid blocks of 10.

Some like the energy of group classes.  It’s nice to feel part of a community.  Group classes are best for those in good health, without serious physical restrictions.  Contact JoAnn if you have questions about what group class is right for you.  joann@wholebodyyoga.com.

Fees

The fees for both private lessons and group classes vary depending on the yoga studio.  Email me for rates at: joann@wholebodyyoga.com

In-Home rates for private lessons are higher than private lessons at a yoga studio.

Discounts available for prepaid blocks of 10 private lessons.  You have 90 days to use.

Yoga studios offer single-class rates or monthly package rates, prices vary.  Please check the individual yoga studio websites for rates.

What is Restorative Yoga?

Restorative yoga keeps us strong, healthy, and relieves stress. It brings deep relaxation to the body and mind. Most poses are done laying down. Standing poses, backbends or inversions are done in the most supportive way possible. In this practice, the more we release and let go, the greater the benefits.

* Please contact JoAnn if you are brand new to yoga, or new to Iyengar yoga, before attending.  joann@wholebodyyoga.com

Different Styles of Yoga

Hatha

Just like martial arts is an umbrella term that has many forms, hatha yoga describes any of the physical forms of yoga.

Iyengar

Iyengar method is known for it's use of props and body alignment. It's taught all over the world, and has made yoga available to anyone and everyone.  B.K.S. Iyengar is one of the foremost yoga teachers in the world, still practicing a full range of poses at age 86.  For more information on BKS Iyengar visit www.bksiyengar.com.

Ashtanga

Sometimes known as flow yoga or power yoga, Ashtanga is known for linking the poses together in a series.

Anusara

Sometimes called "heart yoga", Anusara is known for its focus on intention, and doing yoga from the heart.

There are lots of other styles of yoga.  I encourage everyone to try several and pick the one that works best for you.  Let your body be your guide!
