The Verdict seems to be in.. With many great folks out there with serious plant knowledge, it seems this plant may have been ID'd. Taking many comments on this plant was enjoyable and led to a probable ID for this plant. It seems like this plant may be a Prunus laurocerasus hybrid. The majority felt this so and felt it was "Zabeliana"--the Zabal laurel--which could be the hardiest cultivar in the P. laurocerasus group. Other ideas included "schipkaensis", and "otto luykens"--under the Prunus laurocerasus group. Also a possibility of the plant as a male Ilex X altaclerensis "camelliifolia" was offered as well. Thanks for your time and insights! But the floor is still open for other possible ideas?!!

What do you think this evergreen is here from Providence RI? I wish I had more pictures to show, but it seems a quite hardy plant and must have made it through many cold winters. Ideas?
