This was the
referral picture our little
Hana Mei. She was in the Shanghai Social Welfare Institute. We got Hana
there in late October 2001.
She had a friend named Brian who also went
home with some very nice people from New York.
Emi was worried that if we didn't get Hana
soon she would get sick from being too fat. I think she's pretty
cute myself.
|
| Here's Hana after we
picked her up in Shanghai. She was a little scared by the whole process,
but was fairly well over it within a few hours.
At first she would only
go with my wife, but after her first bath, she decided that she would
only let me hold her for a few days. Of course, this included me doing
all of the diaper work, which I was not really crazy about.

Of
course, this trip was all done with the help and guidance of our
fearless leader, Norman Niu, the director of U.S. Asian Affairs.
Thanks to Norman, Martin, Jimmie
and the rest of his terrific staff we had a wonderful trip! Norman
and the staff handled our large 22 family group with ease. This is
no easy feat when you must herd a group of about 70 adults and 35 kids!
|
| Norman
also brought us together with our number one daughter, Emi, the princess
on the right. This was also a great trip for her and all of the siblings
in our group as you can see from the party picture.
As you can see, these girls are
real party animals! |

All together there were about
10 siblings who
traveled to get their new sisters and brothers.
This has to be one of the biggest
groups ever sworn in! |
