John Gregor

A native of Kirkland, Washington, John is the son of an elementary school principal and grandson of an orchardist/carpenter. He inherited his love of art from his grandmother, an artist and poet who died two months before John was born.
John served four years in the Air Force before earning his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. He wrote, designed and tested software for various companies in California and Washington before leaving engineering to renovate his kitchen. (Word to the wise: Never tear out the old cabinets before the new ones are built.)
John, a left hander, began experimenting with an air brush in the mid 1990s, using his right hand. He drew with colored pencils and also painted with acrylics before settling on oils as his favorite medium.
John and his wife, Candy, moved to Elmhurst, Illinois, in 2002, and he alternated between renovating their 1925 bungalow and studying art at The College of DuPage.
In September 2006, they moved to Virginia Beach, where John is a resident artist at The Artists Gallery (theartistsgallery.org). His pieces are in private collections in Washington state; Texas; North Carolina; Virginia; Norway and Dubai.
