Personal
Information
My wife Lydia, my cat Foxtail, and I live in
San Diego
(in the
neighborhood of
Normal
Heights). I am lucky enough to own a small house here.
My family of origin includes my my sisters (Annette and Susan), 3
nieces (Cris, Checka, and Megan)
and
great-nieces (Madeline and Adelaide). Adelaide was born on 2/3/2005.
They all live in Southern California.
Lydia has
several relatives (the Tannenhaus family)
who live in San
Diego and
Coronado. We
all have dinner together on Sunday evenings.
My hobbies include reading, playing games, taking walks, doing
research, listening to music and
podcasts
on my new
iPod, and listening
to
shortwave radio (I plan to
eventually get my
amateur radio
license).
I am currently interested in an
Outreach &
Instruction Librarian position at the
UCSD Science &
Engineering Library. I had a phone interview there and am hoping to
be
called in for a face-to-face interview. I am also applying to the
San
Diego Public Library and the
San
Diego County Library for a librarian
position. I was excited to be informed of a temporary job
openning at the
Grossmont
College Library (where I am currently working as a per diem adjunct
librarian) and am applying for that position.
In order to learn more about how an information literacy class would be
taught, I took a 1 unit class at
Cuyamaca
College in the spring of 2005. The class
LIR 110
--
Research Methods in an Online World -- was a great deal of fun
and quite educational.
We recently bought some new furniture. The
Tempur-Pedic bed is
great! And my niece Cris gave us a 27" TV to replace our old 19" one.
More information can be found about me on my new personal blog,
John Stanton's Blog. I
am now using
Blogger to manage my blog.
