jkspict.jpg (33479 bytes)John Suzuki is the founder and principal of JKS & Associates.  Prior to starting his own consulting practice, John  was involved in successfully developing medical devices and complex computational software for medical products. Today, he spends the majority of time consulting with small and medium-sized companies in software verification and validation, software process improvement, testing new application software or managing/auditing software projects. When he is not consulting, he is busy writing industry articles and presenting at major conferences on wide range of software development topics.

John has served as a conference reviewer for two years at the Irvine Research Unit in Software (IRUS) Software Symposium (now called the California Software Symposium) at the University of California, Irvine. John has also served as education chair for the Orange County Society of Reliability Engineers. He has completed the Lead TickIT Auditor training and the SEI’s CMM-Based Appraisal Evaluator training. He served as a volunteer on the Advamed (HIMA)/FDA committee to develop a Software Quality Audit Process Assessment Model for the medical industry. He was also a Medical Domain Expert (Giga Expert) for the Giga Information Group of Santa Clara, CA that provides technical consulting and information to their subscribing corporate clients. John is currently serving as a paper and abstract reviewer for the Software Quality Professional Journal. John is a member of the International Council On Systems Engineering (ICOSE), ACM, IEEE Computer Society, SOLE, IPSE, AAMI, ASQ, RAPS, Southern California SPIN (Irvine, CSULB), Gerald Weinberg's SHAPE Forum, and the SRE.

John has presented papers at the International Council on Systems Engineering Conference, the SPG Year 2000 Conference, International Conference on Software Quality, University of Arizona Reliability and Maintainability Institute, and the Pacific Northwest Software Quality Conference. Most recently, he sat on Capability Maturity Model panel at the  Amplifying Your Effectiveness (AYE) conference in Scottsdale, AZ.

John is the author of 17 papers that cover diverse subjects such as medical physiology, systems engineering, life cycle cost analysis, improving software quality with decision tables, software validation documentation in a regulated environment, software risk management, Year 2000 validation testing, software training and team coordination. He is also a contributor to two books. He also holds 3 patents.

John is a Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE), a Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) through the American Society of Quality, a Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE) through the Quality Assurance Institute and is trained by the SEI to perform Software Capability Evaluations (SCE’s). He did his undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego and has attended graduate school at Johns Hopkins University.
