The Ruffner Papers

June 16, 1790 trade receipt for 1643 pounds of bacon with miscellaneous purchases

It would appear the receipt is to Joseph Christy on the account of Wm. Joseph Rufner(sic) and that the trade was accomplished in Fredricksburg. It reflects credit for 1643 pounds of bacon offset by cash and miscellaneous purchases. Joseph could have had Christy take his bacon to a Fredricksberg retailer with instructions to make certain puchases on his behalf. Purchases include powder (?), scales, 2 hoes, 1 calf skin, 1 bushel salt, 1 quart wine, and 10 sacks of salt.
