This is the 1940 Harry Stricker map of Luray which appeared on the inside cover of his book "A Short Histroy of Page County Virginia". The book was originally published in 1952. This is from a subsequent printing by C.J.Carrier Company of Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1974. To the best of my knowledge this book is no longer available except as a used book. The paragraph center right which begins with the heading "MAP" and reads "Joseph Stonman (Steinman) . . . " is partially hidden by the fold in the cover of the book. It reads as follows: " Joseph Stonman (Steinman) of Lancaster Co., PA. to Peter Ruffner Oct. 26, 1743, 900 acres being remainder of land purchased of Francis Thornton, D.B. 9-p.23 Orange Co."
