Josh's Round-The-World Trip 2003-2004In the Fall of 2004, I left my software engineer job in Oakland, packed my belongings into storage, and moved home to Santa Barbara. Over the course of the next 2 months, I applied to grad school and planned a 6-month round-the-world trip. For my kickoff, I hitch-hiked around New Zealand for 2 months, hiking a variety of amazing scenery, participating in adrenalin-pumping extreme sports, and meeting the friendliest people in the world. Now I was ready to explore Southeast Asia for 3 months, witnessing exotic cultures, experiencing regional cuisine, and trying desperately to get off the beaten tourist track. Finally, I obtained a taste of Eastern Europe, ogling the impressive architecture and seeing first-hand how Communism cripples whole countries. I'm now back in Santa Barbara, working at a software company and enjoying the beach until I begin grad school at Stanford in the Fall. Below is a composite of all the mass emails and photo albums I sent during my trip. Enjoy! Josh Daniel, July 2004 |
