Founder of Maiwand Jezails, a Scion Society of The Baker Street Irregulars,1963, Omaha and Lincoln Nebraska. Hooked on Sherlock Holmes at age 11. Became a "closet Sherlockian" when Sherlock Holmes was considered "children's literature" by fellow professors. In 1960 discovered the Baker Street Irregulars of New York City and organized the Maiwand Jezails Scion in Nebraska that numbers 100 members.

Interests include: research and scholarly papers on The Second Afghan War, and Dr. Watson's travels in India and Afghanistan, British and Afghan small arms of the 2nd Afghan War. Collector of 19th century prints and pre-Columbian artifacts. Sherlockian Bibliophile and Sherlockian guns, Commandant of The Maiwand Jezails and "benevolent despot."
