"Stumpy"
.
.
Stumpy was rescued from a bird mill that was closed down here.
Rats ate off 2 of his toes on one foot and chewed the knuckles on
the other foot and left it stiff.  When I first adopted him, he
couldn't perch and the avian angels thought he never would. But
thanks to a special friend of mine with the gift of a super cage
and my darling hubby, who designed his cage with large perches
in easy to negotiate levels, Stumpy can now perch like any other
bird.

.
Stumpy is an Australian King parrot who is 17 inches long.
From what I've heard, they're pretty rare. To me, he's just
another of my fur (or should I say feather) kids to love. :)))
.
This is a picture of Stumpy, taken at the animal shelter, that
was in our newspaper when  the bird mill was closed down.
You can see all the other rescued birds in the background.

Stumpy is now going to live with me forever.  He's a wonderful
bird and friend.  His cage is next to my computer and he greets
me every morning with his wonderful chirping.  He makes all
kinds of wonderful sounds that I'm just learning to interpert.
He's full of play and his favorite game is throw the ball.  He
also likes to get on my desk and see how many objects and
papers he can throw off.  His aim is pretty good too if you
count the "bulls eyes" on the Yorkies sleeping around my desk
he hits with his flying missles.
