Ok, so I originally started this thing some time back to share my experiences of mountain biking and post some photos of same. I finally am entering something here that is equally mundane as previous posts. This space will still be called "1-track mind" in the sense of it's still going to be about biking and maybe some other things. Then again, it may go the same direction as before. Nowhere. Which isn't all that bad of a place. Bet it's peaceful and you can see stars at night. Or not.

Went camping this past weekend with my Dad for his birthday. It has been quite sometime since I got to go out and do that. It was great. Took the SS for a ride around Heber on some double-track and a tad-o' single on the Willow Springs Trail. Appears to be some new track being cut in. Nothing steep or technical except for a slight detour towards the south end of the lake. Reminded me that I need new brake pads on the rear. Had a burger and fries at a place called the Red Onion in Heber. Quite tasty for a apres-ride meal.

Took in a few miles on some FS roads around Chevelon Canyon as well while heading up (elevation wise) and down (south wise) from Winslow towards Payson where we camped around an area known as Hart Canyon. Peaceful. Saw nary a soul except some antelope, elk and deer.

Sunday saw me sprinting home to the PHX to my kick-ass spouse and household chores I put off, but I just couldn't help but stop in Payson and give the Houston Mesa trails a go'round. Twisty and fun fo' sho'. Just didn't care much for the sandy aspect. It was quite possible to rail some of those berms on the downhill portions but ended up washing out the front end on some looser bits. Some tough climbing, too. I needed the exercise though after putting down many beers during the camping.

I should have some pictures coming soon.
