Curriculum & Career Plans

I am fortunate that I already have a career that I enjoy (at least most of the time). I have worked in recreation professionally for over 30 years. For 15 years, I was a YMCA Professional and in 1992 I accepted a position with the City of Virginia Beach. I am planning on retiring in about 6 years. At that time, my husband and I hope to travel, both in the United States and abroad.

My immediate goal is to finish the seven classes that I need to complete the requirements for an Associate Degree in Applied Science. After evaluation of the college credits I have accumulated over the last 35 years, I should be able to complete the requirements by May of 2009. Most of the classes I have taken were classes that interested me. I have taken several science, psychology, and sociology classes. I may go on to complete the requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree, but I have not made that decision yet.
