Toffee

1 cup of sugar
1 cup of butter
4 Tbs. water
1 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Sprinkle nuts in the bottom of a 6 x 12 pan. The size of the pan can vary, just make sure the nuts cover the bottom.

Cook sugar, butter and water, stirring constantly until the color becomes a light brown. (The color of a brown paper bag)

Pour candy over the top of the nuts and spread.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips on the candy and let sit for a few minutes to melt then spread.

While still hot, score the candy so you can break apart in nice squares.

Let cool and break apart. It takes a while for the chocolate to set up so you might want to put it in the fridge to speed it up.

*****I have used walnuts and also toasted almonds. When I used the almonds I also added some to the candy mixture while it was cooking. Ends up like Almond Roca
