State Tax Credit

One significant and painless way you can participate financially is to make a contribution to Habitat for Humanity (through your church) using the Arizona law which allows a dollar for dollar tax credit for contributions for the working poor.  For taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 1998, Arizona law provides a credit for cash contributions made to certain charities that provide help to the working poor.  The maximum amount of this credit for 2006 is $400 for a couple and $200 for a single taxpayer.  YES!  Habitat for Humanity meets all the state requirements to qualify as a "Qualified Charitable Organization" and use of this contribution method still allows you to donate to schools and other organizations which have similar programs.  Flyers describing the program will be available at the churches or click here to view a copy of the flyer.  Go to the Arizona Department of Revenue website www.revenue.state.az.us for more details and forms.
