Bioroids

Bioroids are living beings created fully formed through biogenesis.  The term Bioroid is derived by contracting Biological Android.

Algonaut 108 points
Attribute Modifiers: ST -1 [-10]; HT +3 [30]
Secondary Characteristic Modifiers: Will -1 [-5]
Advantages: Appearance: Handsome/Beautiful [12]; Breath Holding 4 [8]; Flexibility [5]; Hard to Kill +2 [4]; Immunity to Sickness [15]; Less Sleep 3 [6]; Recovery [10]; Regrowth (small extremities only, -50%) [20];  Resistant to Acceleration (+3 to HT Rolls) [1]; Sanitized Metabolism [5]; Skill Bonus: Art (Sensies) +2 [4]; Temperature Tolerance +2 [2]; Very Fit [15]; Very Rapid Healing [15]
Disadvantages: Bioroid Body [-15]; Lecherousness (12) (if afraid or helpless, -70%) [-4]; Low Pain Threshold [-10]
Description: Omokage Labs produced this design as an alternative to the Submissa series of pleasure bioroids (p. ITW87).  An Algonaut can feel pain - more intensely than an average human - but it's very hard to badly injure one, allowing more extreme forms of "play."
The Algonaut's skeleton  is based on combat bioroid designs, so it can spend long periods in restraint without permanent damage.  A modified windpipe and enhanced lung capacity allow it to survive strangulation or immersion in water for much longer periods than a human, with reduced risk of death or brain damage.  Cellular modifications inspired by salamanders enable the Algonaut to regenerate lost extremities - it can lose fingers, toes, or even its tongue and grow them back in a few weeks or months, while skin quickly recovers from dermal scaring.
Some Algonauts are bioroids; others are bioshells. An escaped Algonaut is a viable character - it may have a few psychological problems stemming from abuse, but its abilities also make it a dangerous enemy.

Busr -5 points
Attribute Modifiers: ST +2 [20]; IQ -2 [-40]; HT +2 [20]
Advantages:  Breath Holding +2 [4]; Damage Resistance +1 [5]; Discriminatory Smell [15]; Filter Lungs [5]; Lifting ST +2 [6]; Nictitating Membrane +3 [3]; Resistant to Metabolic Hazards (+3 to HT Rolls) [10]
Disadvantages: Appearance: Monstrous [-20]; Bad Smell [-10]; Bioroid Body [-15]; Selfless (12) [-5]; Unnatural Feature (See Features) +3 [-3].
Features: Thick, rough green skin; head set deep into the frame of the body; very large eyes that don't seem to blink.  Transgenic Features (Skin derived from rhinoceros hide, greatly altered body form).
Date: 2087                    Cost: $75,000.
Description: The Busr is a worker bioroid found only in the Islamic Caliphate.  Its name comes from its appearance: round, wrinkled, and green, something like an unripe date.  It is designed to be as non-humanoid as possible while still being able to use equipment and infrastructure meant for humans, in accordance with Caliphate restrictions on the creation of beings in the human image.
Due to its strength and general hardiness, Busrs are used where Fifth Wave nations would use cybershells. The chemical industries and military are the major employers of Busr bioroids.  It is used largely in hazardous areas, as its design makes it resistant to environmental toxins.  Still, most Busr bioroids die within five years of production.
Its continued manufacture and use is an embarrassment for many progressive Caliphate citizens, who are troubled by the use of clearly sapient slave labor.
Because of their appearance and odor (a side-effect of the way their bodies process toxins), Busrs are rarely used in public areas.

Disadvantages: Bioroid Body [-15]; Extra Sleep –1 [-2]; Overconfidence (12) [-5]
Features: Transgenic Features (human-feline facial features, with human hair and cat's fur, claws, and tail.) [0]
Description: This transgenic combat bioroid resembles a lithe, anthropomorphic cat-person. Created by Biotech Euphrates for the eccentric Sultan of Brunei and three-tie Kyoto Cup winners, their successful thwarting of a coup attempt by the Sultan’s less eccentric sister resulted in other armed forces ordering them. Today, many Felicias serve in military and security units (primarily in counterterrorist forces), or as bodyguards and bodyguard-courtesans. The Felicia has one unintended glitch: after an emergency-overdrive response, glandular imbalances sometimes result in mood swings and heightened appetites. This example is the last preban model, the AS-3J (later licensed as the C-33 Lynx).

Hamlin 83 Points
Attribute Modifiers: IQ+1 [20]; HT +1 [10]
Advantages: Appearance: Handsome/Beautiful [12]; Charisma +2 [10]; Combat Reflexes [15]; Fearlessness +2 [4]; Pheromone Control [22];  Voice [10]
Disadvantages: Bioroid Body [-15]; Sterile [0]; Unusual Biochemistry [-5]
Features: Taboo Trait: Mental Instability.
Date: 2085                    Cost: $375,000.
Description: Designed by Biotech Euphrates for the British M.I. 5 as a tool for memetic warfare, the Hamlin-series bioroids are engineered to be as charismatic and inspiring as possible. Most often used by intelligence and security services, they are able to quickly gain the attention and trust of groups of people, inciting or calming crowds, and sowing confusion in the ranks of political movements. The bioroids have no single external appearance, and are sculpted to fit in with the local populace.
The set of traits engineered into the Hamlin-series allows the bioroid maximum physical control over its ability to connect with people. every movement, every breath is designed to add to the effect. The Pheromone Control advantage is more subtle than in an Eros-series bioroid, focusing on enhancing comfort rather than lust. Through the use of body language, voice, and pheromones, the very presence of a Hamlin-series makes people feel at ease.
Coupled with an appropriately programmed or trained intelligence, a Hamlin-series bioroid can be a persuasive political figure, particularly in groups based upon charismatic leadership. IN 2090, the radical British Preservationist group Second Calling collapsed after a Hamlin-series bioroid infiltrated the organization. Working to enhance the incipient rivalries, the bioroid agent managed5t to split the group into at least four factions, none of which was strong enough to stand on its own.

Hecate 24 points
Attribute Modifiers: ST +2 [20]; HT +2 [20]
Advantages: Breath Holding +2 [4]; Discriminatory Smell [15]; Lifting ST +2 [6]; Filter Lungs [5]; Immunity to Poison [15]; Nictitating Membrane +1 [1]
Disadvantages: Appearance: Unattractive [-4]; Bioroid Body [-15]; Unnatural Feature +3 [-3]
Features: Transgenic Features (hairless, bright lemon-yellow skin, eyes with nictitating membrane, thick muscles around the mouth and nose) [0]
Description: The Hecate model is designed to work on the cleanup of hazardous materials, especially in case where human-level initiative and intelligence are required. They can enter hazardous areas with minimal protective equipment, sensing directly what toxins are present in the area. They can analyze the situation and act when standard hazmat cybershells fail. Hecate bioroids are almost immune to poisons, although corrosives and certain bioactive chemicals can still damage them. Since they are unlikely to survive long in any case, Hecates are designed with very short active lifespans.

Features: Taboo Trait: Mental Instability
Date: 2090                    Cost: $113,000
Description:
The Numina-series bioroids serve as a "buffer" between the other sapient employees of World Tree Enterprises.  They do all the boring clerical work and routine maintenance jobs so that the highly paid specialists can concentrate on what they do best.
Extremely social, the Numinas are programmed with a large range of personality types, individual preferences, and interests, as well as vastly different appearances. Their charming and outgoing personalities mean that all but the most antisocial or antibioroid employees gain a few bioroid friends soon after arriving at the Sepiroth Arcology Complex. More than one observer has remarked that the Numina seem to be almost "more human in personality than most actual humans!" All this means that employee satisfaction at WTE is far higher than at most other companies.

Sentient Snacks -212 points

Features: Home Gravity 0G; Average Height is 6"; Taboo Trait (Genetic Defects); Taboo Trait (Mental Instability)
Date: 2098                         Cost: $50*
Description: These Trojan Mafia products look like miniature humans or animals.  They're bioshells designed to be eaten alive.  They're a novelty item; a simple living body operated by an extremely tiny biodegradable computer running a factory-loaded NAI-4 program.  They're usually programmed with humorous and nihilistic personalities and will make jokes as they're being eaten, and sometimes have Cooking skill sets, so they can slice themselves up and make dinner.
A sentient snack's body has been carefully designed so all parts are edible... even the computer, although a few bits, referred to as "brain pips," are indigestible and are best spat out (if not, they'll be safely excreted). Its blood is flavored to taste like syrup, and its decentralized nervous system allows it to remain alive even if extremities or the head are removed.  Different body parts have a slightly different tastes.  They don't have real skeletons, and most of their organs are both rudimentary and multiply redundant.
A sentient snack's body is even more simplified and streamlined than most bioroids. None of its senses are very acute. It doesn't eat, consuming its own body mass to support itself. It can only live for 75 hours, but can hibernate if refrigerated, and stay alive for up to 3 years. Biting off its head destroys its visual sense and ability to communicate except by radio, but it breathes and hears through its skin.  1/2 lb.  6-8" tall.

Advantages: Combat Reflexes [15]; Lifting ST +2 [6]; High Pain Threshold [10]
Disadvantages: Appearance: Unattractive [-4]; Bioroid Body [-15]; Short Lifespan +1 [-10]
Description: The Spartan is a typical high-end combat bioroid, with hormone-boosted muscles, reinforced skeleton, reduced pain response, and sharpened reflexes for emergency situations. The most attractive feature of the Spartan is its ability to use heavy infantry support weapons alone, without mechanical or personal assistance. The Spartan model was developed in the United States, and is now widespread throughout the Americas. Versions of it can be found in China and have also been pirated by the nanosocialist states.

Features: Feature: Home Gravity of 0 G.; Feature: Increase height by up to one foot over the norm for the lowered ST, but weight is 50% of normal.  Taboo Trait (Genetic Defects).
Date: 2073                    Cost: $81,000
Description: Vacs are quite striking in appearance.  They are all tall and skinny.  Their skin is very smooth, completely hairless, and feels unusually slick, much like plastic or the skin of a dolphin.  As apart of their temperature control mechanism, their skin changes color, going from jet-black in darkness to white in bright light.  Vacs have long, slender arms and legs and somewhat enlarged ribcages.  Individuals who are uncomfortable with the parahumans have described them as looking like bloated spiders.
The adaptations used on the Vacs were at the absolute cutting edge of available biotechnology.  As a result, there were a few problems, the most serious of which is that their metabolism is unusual enough (primarily due to the inclusion of mechanisms patterned on cetaceans) that they require a carefully-monitored diet to remain healthy.
