Transhuman Space Conversion Project

This is my project to convert all of the system-related data presented in Transhuman Space from GURPS 3rd Edition to GURPS 4th Edition rules.  It is a work in progress.  Many templates may be missing their costs, some unfinished items are noted in red, some are listed as WIP (Work in Progress). Some templates may even have 3rd Edition names or values still in place.  As much as I would like to reproduce every aspect of the entire Transhuman Space line I have no intention of listing items here that haven't changed.  Where possible, I'll reference the 4th Edition book in which to find the new version of the item you're looking for.  In the case of the template descriptions, I have been granted permission (see disclaimer) to reproduce those directly from the books.  Hopefully, this will benefit you as well.  As I work through them all, I'll update them.  If you have any input on them, I'm open to discussion.  Find me on the Steve Jackson Games Forum.  I'm also looking for artwork to add to my site.  ADDITION: I'm adding a work log to track my changes for those of you waiting for certain templates to be completed.

Templates

Bioroids  Bioroids are living beings created fully formed through biogenesis.  The term Bioroid is derived by contracting Biological Android.

Cybershells  Cybershells are basically robots without software. The sophisticated software required to animate a cybershell is called an Infomorph, a being of digital intelligence.  Cybershells are designed for a multitude of uses.  Any job or function that could be done by a computer is likely to have a cybershell built to do it.

Infomorphs  An Infomorph is an entity whose consciousness resides in a computer brain and whose personality and memories are in the form of software and data.  It has two elements; a digital mind consisting of either an AI or a mind-emulation , and a body of either a cybershell or a bioshell.

Parahumans  Parahumans are products of species gengineering, and incorporate nonhuman DNA sequences.  They are people that were genetically engineered prior to birth.  Many typical human deficiencies have been edited out or blocked, and many desirable traits have been enhanced.  Most parahumans are designed for specific environments or tasks.

Upgrades  Genetic upgrades are the product of eugenic genetic engineering.  A genetic upgrade is completely human, but his genes were selected to emphasize particular traits.

Uplifted Animals  Many animals can be "uplifted" to a greater, more sentient intelligence, less bestial behavior (if that's desired), and increased functionality.

Additional Information

Biomods. These are surgical modifications that can be done to any biological body.

Custom Templates.  Since the list of templates from Transhuman Space books is far from complete, I have started making a few of my own.  Typically I do this on an as-needed basis, but sometimes I'm inspired by imagination, movie, or image and have to whip up a new template.

Other Traits.  Many of the Templates above contain Meta-Traits which I have also converted and have listed on this separate page. Arguably, many more of the Templates in Transhuman Space could be defined as Meta-Traits. Also found here are stray Advantages, Disadvantages, Perks, Quirks, and Talents that have no other home.  For more on Meta-Traits and Talents, see page B262 and B89 respectively.
