National Music Certificate Program Honors Jelena Vladikovic

NMCP, a US division of the Royal Conservatory of Music, recently awarded the Founding Teacher designation to Jelena Vladikovic for her contribution to "establishing a national standard for developing musicians in the United States of America." She joins such notables as John Perry, Leon Fleisher, and Reid Alexander in endorsing the NMCP as a premier national music curriculum and assessment program.  Jelena Vladikovic has also been admitted to the College of Examiners for the RCM and NMCP.

Jelena Vladikovic won 2nd place at the Rocky Mountain International Piano Competition, held in Colorado Springs  August 8 - 12, 2007.  She also received the Press Jury Award and The Best of Baroque Award for her performance of D. Scarlatti Piano Sonata in C major LL 23.

For the First Time, a Woman Wins D.C. Piano Competition

Yugoslavia-born Jelena Vladikovic took first place in the fifth annual Washington International Piano Competition, becoming the first woman to win the contest since it was founded.  For Sunday's finals, Vladikovic played a brief suite "Platform" by Serbian composer, Vojislav Vuckovic, as well as Beethoven's "Appassionata" Sonata, Op. 57, No.23, demonstrating strong command and focus, along with an impassioned approach. Vladikovic will return to D.C. for a winner's recital in October 2007.
