Commonly called mildew, molds (sometimes referred to as "black mold") are a subset of fungi that produce fluffy or powdery growth on surfaces. Toxic black molds can grow on cloth, carpets, leather, wood, sheetrock, insulation (and on human foods) when moist conditions exist.
