OwassoFish Aquaria

Well, I got the itch again.  After moving 7 years ago (1997), I have not had my aquariums up and running.  My twin boys just started 1st grade and wanted a pet.  So they first had to show some responsibility by keeping their room clean.  As a reward, I set up my 10 gallon aquarium for them in their bedroom.

That led to my interest in setting up the aquariums I already had on hand.  I have a 29 and a 55.  The old stand had been stored in the garage for these 7 years.  Somewhere along the way, my ham radio hobby assisted me in acquiring several 3000 watt power supplies.  Each power supply weighed approximately 80 pounds.  Without thinking about it at the time, I stored 4 of them on the lower shelf of the aquarium stand.  When I brought it back into the house, I didn't feel comfortable filling up the 55 with water, it was in bad shape.  So, hey, another project and another hobby, woodworking.  I hadn't gotten to use my tools in a while so why not save some money and get some enjoyment out of building my own aquarium stand.  Here's the story.

My Fish Log

Update - Nov. 6, 2004

Tank Cycle Data

Tank has finished cycling and I've placed my order for my fish.  My final order consists of...

3 - Labeotropheus fuelleborni
5 - Cynotilapia afra "jalo reef"
4 - Labidochromis caeruleus
5 - Aulonocara sp. "Maleri" "Ruben Red"
3 - Sciaenochromis fryeri "Electric Blue"
5 - Tropheops Macrothalmus Albino Red Head
5 - Pseudotropheus callainos "Cobalt Zebra"

I purchased 3 test fish.  They are doing well.  I didn't want to put all those fish in with no proof that the aquarium could support life!

Here's a few pics of my test fish.

Hopefully I'll receive my ordered fish on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Update - Nov. 10, 2004

Got my fish on Tuesday.  Had 2 losses.  1 male fryeri and 1 fuelleborni.  Still have 1m and 1f fryeri and 4 fuelleborni's (can't sex them yet).  Of course I had to watch them all the rest of the day and took pictures too.  Have a look.

(temporary, got expelled from his tank for being too agressive)  Interestingly enough, he's getting along fine in with the mbuna.  But, I don't like him in there.
