Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Online Match Up Some of Today's Most Promising Undiscovered Animators for the Ultimate `Toon Showdown
"Cartoon Monsoon" Season 2 Officially Underway
July 2004 (Newstream) -- Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Online announce the beginning of the Round One showdown for the second season of "Cartoon Monsoon," www.cartoonmonsoon.com, an online development tool that brings together seasoned experts in animation, emerging talent and fans. Beginning July 23, the site will pit some of today's brightest, most creative animators against each other in an online competition. This animation showcase will expose undiscovered talent to top development executives at Warner Bros. Animation, which could ultimately lead to their first big break in the business.
CartoonMonsoon.com has become a popular destination for both animators and cartoon fans alike. Animators from across the country submit their original ideas to the site where they are then reviewed by studio executives at Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Online. Instead of merely picking their favorite, Cartoon Monsoon showcases the ten best `toons in short form, and then turns it over to the public to decide the overall winner.
This year's competition will feature up to 10 contenders competing for five slots in the Final Showdown, with one becoming the ultimate Cartoon Monsoon champion. Judging is done in two consecutive rounds of five cartoon shorts. This year's Round One contenders include: The Hiros, Edgar & The Voyagers, Keeping Up with The Joneses, Creepwood and Food Chain. Cartoon fans can view and vote for their favorite cartoon short starting July 23. Round Two shorts will begin rolling out on August 2, with voting taking place beginning October 11. The two highest ranked `toons from each round will win slots in the Final Showdown, which begins November 2. The remaining cartoon shorts are not out of the running yet - they will be eligible to vie for a spot in the Final Showdown during Wild Card Week beginning October 25.
The Cartoon Monsoon showdown can have its rewards for up and coming talent- first season's winner GO! GO! Moba Boy! by Matt Danner and Eric Pringle, and the runner up Gorilla Girl by Darin McGowan and Mark Palmer are currently in development with world renowned Warner Bros. Animation, with interest from a television network.
Cartoon fans who visit Cartoon Monsoon beginning July 23 can also enter to win the Cartoon Monsoon Sweepstakes, which includes a DVD player and almost 30 cartoon DVDs, including such classics as The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Batman, Justice League, Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo.
