Hispanic Heritage Month is September 9 - October 9
The Human Relations Commission and City of Chandler are proud to present Hispanic Heritage Month, in honor of the many contributions of Chandler’s Hispanic founders and residents through the years. This is one of several events held annually that celebrates the diversity of the Chandler community.

Here are some of the events taking place during the month-long celebration.
Mariachi Festival Workshops
Friday, September 10 - 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, September 11 - 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Location: To be announced
These folklorico dance and mariachi music workshops are open to children 5 years and older (there's no maximum age for participants). Registration is $30 for each student. Participants must bring their own instruments to the workshops. All workshop participants will have the opportunity to perform at the opening of the Mariachi Festival on September 11. Second Annual Hispanic Heritage Photo Exhibit - Free
Friday, September 10, 6 to 7 p.m., Dr. A.J. Chandler Park
The Second Annual Chandler Hispanic Heritage Photo Exhibit is devoted to all of the pioneering Hispanic families of Chandler.
Inaugural Garibaldi Night - Free
Friday, September 10, 7 to 9 p.m., throughout Historic Downtown Chandler
This first-time event will include strolling Mariachis in Historic Downtown Chandler and will be the first of its kind in the Valley. In addition to the strolling Mariachis, the Si Se Puede Ballet Folklorico dance group will perform from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
Sixth Annual Chandler Mariachi Festival/Youth Mariachi Competition
Saturday, September 11, 7 to 11 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.), Chandler Center for the Arts.
In its sixth year, the Mariachi Festival is produced by the Chandler Coalition for Civil and Human Rights (3CHR) and presented by Arizona Public Service and the City of Chandler.
The primary goal of the festival is to raise scholarship funds for high school seniors and community college students in the Chandler area by providing a cultural event that promotes and showcases the youth in the community.
Latino Film Celebration - Free
Saturday, October 9, 4 p.m., Chandler Center for the Arts
This year’s special guest speaker is Mr. Jaime Escalante.
The Community Cares Award
The Community Cares Award will be presented at the Chandler Mariachi Festival on September 11.
This award will recognize a Chandler resident who exhibits strong community service.
