Rock for Life Challenges MoveOn.org and encourages Vote for Change boycott

Rock for Life Challenges MoveOn.org

If You Really Want Change, Support Civil Rights for Preborn Babies
Washington, D.C.—Erik Whittington, director of American Life League’s Rock for Life, issued the following statement in response to the news that MoveOn.org has launched a new music-based effort called Vote for Change:

The time has come for Americans to use their right to vote to effect real change in this country. But the message being regurgitated by several popular musicians as part of MoveOn.org’s Vote for Change tour is not the one America needs to hear.

Groups like Pearl Jam, the Dixie Chicks and the Dave Matthews band, who pride themselves on being counter-cultural, are only working to maintain the status quo: abortion on demand. Real change will only come when all Americans— celebrities and average citizens alike—are willing to stand up to protect preborn babies from violence of abortion.

Abortion advocates repeatedly talk about the right to choose; yet they blatantly reject the rights of society’s most vulnerable human beings. This outright denial of the dignity of the human person is not the change this country needs. The choice we should make at the polls this November—a decision that would be counter-cultural to the celebrity elite—is to vote 100% pro-life without exception.

Rock for Life is organizing youth activists to protest the Vote for Change musicians and to share the truth about the horror of abortion. Rock for Life urges all young people, teenagers and adults to stop purchasing CDs and concert tickets from these artists until they stop advocating the destruction of our generation.

Rock for Life will continue to register young people to vote through its 100+ chapters in the United States. Voter registration will also be encouraged through Rock for Life’s web site (www.rockforlife.org), e-mail newsletter and its publication Reality Check.
