SBC Communications and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Encourage Customers To 'Save A Stamp - Help Save A Life'

SBC Communications Announces Campaign To Encourage Customers To 'Save A Stamp - Help Save A Life'

New Initiative Will Result In $1 Donation To The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation For Every Customer Who Signs Up For SBC eBill

San Antonio, Texas, August 31, 2004

Consumers who switch from traditional paper phone bills to SBC eBill will help raise awareness ⬠and money ⬠for breast cancer research.

Through the "Save a Stamp ⬠Help Save a Life" campaign, created in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, SBC Services Inc. will contribute $1 dollar for every SBC customer who signs up for SBC eBill from Sept 1 to Nov. 15, 2004. SBC customers can participate in the campaign and register for the free SBC online billing service through www.sbc.com/cancersupport.

In 2004, an estimated 216,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in American women, according to the Foundation. Although the number of new cases of breast cancer has increased over the past 30 years, the mortality rate has decreased. This is due in part to the efforts of organizations such as the Komen Foundation in raising awareness and raising funds for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. In recognition of the work still to be done in fighting this disease, SBC Services has committed to donate a minimum of $25,000 to the cause.

"SBC companies have a long tradition of supporting important causes within the communities we serve. Breast cancer touches so many among us ⬠our mothers, sisters, co-workers and friends ⬠it is clearly a priority in this country," said Maggie Weaklend, executive director, SBC Services. "Now, SBC eBill service provides not only an easy and convenient way for our customers to view and pay their SBC bill, but it is also an easy way to contribute to the fight against breast cancer."

SBC eBill is a convenient and free online billing service offered by SBC Online Services. It saves customers time by providing a quick, easy, and secure way to review and pay bills and track account and billing history. In addition to managing SBC local services, customers can also manage any services that are combined on a paper bill, including SBC long distance service and SBC Yahoo! DSL. The simple payment process means no need for stamps or checks or trips to the post office. Also, SBC eBill is accessible from any Internet connection by using a unique user ID and password, giving customers the option to pay their bills anytime, from anywhere.

In addition to being able to view and pay their SBC bill online, SBC eBill provides customers with enhanced services, such as:

Analyze the Bill: Customers can sort and organize the bill by numbers called, length of call, place, date, or cost. This feature helps families and small businesses analyze their calling habits.
Reverse Number Look-up: Check on unrecognized phone numbers by clicking on a number in question to view the name and contact information of the person dialed. (This service is not available for unlisted names.)
Archives: SBC eBill archives up to six months of billing history. The past billing history can be saved electronically or printed for records.
Payment Options: Customers decide if and when monthly payments are made from checking or savings accounts or credit card by using "Pay Now" feature. SBC eBill also offers the convenience of automatic payment, which sets up an automatic payment from a saving or checking account or credit card each month. Customers also may choose to use their own online banking service or third-party bill consolidator.
Security: Using SBC eBill can help protect against fraud such as identity theft by eliminating the delivery of paper bills to unsecured mailboxes. The service requires user names and passwords marks of SBC Knowledge Ventures, L.P. and/or its affiliates. (c) 2004 SBC Knowledge Ventures, L.P. All rights reserved.
