Mesa City Manager honored for superior public service
Mesa City Manager Mike Hutchinson will receive the 2005 Superior Service
Award for Management from the Arizona Chapter of the American Society for
Public Administration (ASPA). The award recognizes administrators whose
executive leadership has resulted in outstanding service to citizens and
who have demonstrated exceptional employee teamwork and morale.
Since being appointed City Manager in 2000, Hutchinson has led Mesa during
a period of unprecedented growth. Implementing policies established by a
seven-member City Council, he has positively impacted City services with
his commitment to quality, openness, fairness and progress. Hutchinson has
established and continues to promote a strong style of participative
management throughout his career.
"It's an honor to be recognized and a tribute to our employees for their
hard work and continuing commitment to making Mesa one of the best run
cities in the nation," said Hutchinson.
Hutchinson will receive the honor during the 35th annual Arizona ASPA
Chapter's Superior Service Awards Luncheon on May 2. The Superior Service
Award for Management is one of seven award categories to recognize a
variety of professional and personal contributions to public service. The
ASPA promotes professionalism in public administration and advocates for
greater effectiveness in government.
