BIOGRAPHY: While in high school, he was in many different cities for education, due to father's job. He finally graduated in Saffordville,K S (10 miles west of Emporia,KS) and entered into the Navy. He served his time in 3 1/2 years. Donna says that they met in Saffordville but he was dating another girl that was onstage in a play one night. After the play was over with, Norman and Donna left the building together. On his return from Naval duty, he surprised Donna on his early arrival on her doorstep and asked for her to marry him. Norman while in high school was burned while working at a filling station and had to live with the scar on his wrist for the rest of his life but it did not keep him from enjoying life by fishing, hunting, water skiing and building things with his own hands. In 1955, he began working with Didde-Glaser INC in Emporia,KS as one of 15 original employees as a welder. He was forced to quit this job due to a tumor in the petuitary gland in 1984. He did not show it but I know he suffered for the next 11 years even after 2 operations to try to return him to good health. He enjoyed being a member of the Emporia Masonic Lodge, Arab Shrine Temple, American Legion, Eagle's Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
