Funeral services for Florietta Flint, 99, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Mitchell, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb., 16, at Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Flint was born on Nov. 28, 1878, at Norris, Neb. , to Mr. and Mrs. William Shearer, and died Sunday at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married C. H. (Harry) Flint on May 28, 1901, at Laurel, Neb. She moved to Mitchel from Salem in 1944 and resided in Mitchell until moving to Cedar Rapids in 1972. Mrs Flint was a member of the Congregational Church and ladies aid, and the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). She was past state president of the WCTU. Survivors include five children, Mrs. Inez Payton, Salem; Mrs. Lillian Hale, Sunnyside, Wash.; Mrs. Robert (Hazel) Karr, Portland , Ore.; Mrs Gail (Gladys) Flint, Zillah, Wash.; and Mrs. Darrell (Myra) Marks, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Lela Knox, Santa Fe, N.M.; and Mrs Gertrude Eakin, Columbus, Ohio: 22 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren ; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Howard; one daughter, Ruby Mullinex; two sisters; and one brother.

MRS. DOUGLAS SCOTT CALLED SUDDENLY, DECEMBER 22 , 1946. Following a very brief illness, Mrs Douglas Scott, well knowm Ree Heights resident, passed away Sunday, December 22, at the Miller hospital. Mrs Scott was teaching in Miller township until the day prior to her illness. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the Congregational church in Ree Heights. Services were in charge of Rev. Stanley. She is survived by her husband and four children, Margaret Exon of Dayton, Ohio; Carol Babb of San Angelo, Texas; Alice Jean Scott of Dayton, Ohio; and James Scott of Ree Heights; also four sisters: Mrs. Harry Flint, Mitchell; Mrs. Nettie Gardner; Mrs. Gaylord Knox and Mrs. Paul Eakin of Siam. There are also four
infant grandsons. Elza Ella Shearer was born in Cedar County, Neb., October 30, 1883. In her early girlhood she became a member of the Presbyterian church in Laurel, Neb. After graduation from high school she attended Normal Teachers School at Wayne, Neb., and obtained a teacher's certificate. She taught sseveral years in Nebraska, then moved to South Dakota with her parents. She taught school two
years in Spring Hill township. On June 28, 1916, she was married to Douglas Scott of Ree Heights, where they have since made their home. Seven children were born to this union, three of whom died in infancy. Four years ago, due to the shortage of teachers during the war, Mrs. Scott again took up teaching in Hyde county, and the past year and a half in Midland township. She began the present term of school in October, because of serious illness which had confined her to the Pierre hospital for three weeks in Sept. Interment, which was in Morningside Cemetery, was witheld until Thursday morning, for the arrival of a daughter, Mrs. Babb, who was unable to get here for the funeral.
