Mrs Mattie F. Jordan
Mrs. Mattie F. Jordan, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. A. Royse, was born June 19,1881 in Kentucky. She passed away Monday, Oct 28, 1957 at Jetmore,Kans. at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 9 days. As a child, Mrs. Jordan came to Kansas with her parents and spent the remainder of her life here. Moving to Sedgwick in 1948.
She was united in marriag e to Frank M. Jordan, Sept 29, 1897 at Wichita. Mr and Mrs Jordan celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
To this union were born ten children, seven of whom survive. They are-two sons, Chester of Hanston, Wayne of Wichita; five daughters, Mrs. Chas.Greenstreet of Jetmore, Mrs Harry Bailey of Emporia, Mrs Irvin Nolen of Wichita, Mrs. Phorest Dilts of Sedgwick and Mrs Curtis Cochran of Hillsville,Va. Also two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore of Emporia and Mrs Anna Jordan of Wichita; 18 grandchildren
and eight great grandchildren.
Mrs Jordan was a life long member of the Christian Church
uniting in girlhood. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Funeral services were hel d Thursday at the Sedgwick
Christian Church with the pastor, Rev. Richard E. Vail, officiating. A male quartet, composed of Leslie McFadden, Harold McFadden, Harry Shank and Howard Bondurant, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Francis Ankrom.
Organist was Mrs. Blanche Osborn. Casketbearers were Marion Jordan, Garry Jordan, Larry Nolen, James Bowie, Norman Bailey and Donny Bailey.
Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Mount Hope,Kans. The Sedgwick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
