C. H. Shearer conducting a confectionary store and ice cream manufactory in Agency, is a successful businessman. He was born September 21, 1858 and is a son of George and Elizabeth Shearer, both of whom were natives of Indiana. They journeyed by wagon to Wapello Co., IA in 1865, the father remaining here until his death. In the family were five children, two of whom are still living; Eliza, the wife of T. J. Raper of Burlington, IA and C. H. of this review.
On the 13 of January, 1887 C. H. married Lizzie Dunbar, a native of Iowa and daughter of John and Lucy Dunbar natives of Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Shearer have one daughter Katie, now married to Fred Rutz and they have two children Elvie and Francis.
C. H. served three terms as city councilman and is a Republican. He belongs to the Modern Woodman camp and has filled all chairs in that organization.
