Fellow Packers Speak on Kramer
Many Packers of the Lombardi era wrote books describing
the teamwork that went into their successful run.
Our offensive gaurds, Jerry Kramer and Fuzzy Thurston, were consistent
and outstanding performers. When [Jerry] wasn't
on his deathbed he was making life miserable for defensive tackles.
He was highly regarded when he arrived in 1958 and
and became even better during the next decade.
Because of his personable and outgoing nature and good looks
he became a press favorite.
-Bart Starr in "Starr, My Life in Football"
It is inconcievable to me that Jerry Kramer has not been
inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was the
pulling gaurd that helped make the 1960s "Packer sweep"
the most effective play in football.
-Packer Trainer Domenic Gentile in "The Packer Tapes"
The fullback has launched his block on the linebacker
as the guard (No. 64) and offside tackle turn upfield. This is
the perfect execution of the sweep.
