2004 Packers in Limerick Form
For the past several seasons I've been sending out weather
forecasts for on-line Packer fans. I usually include a
remark, sometimes insightful, sometimes witty, sometimes just
plain wrong, about what I expect from each game. During 1996
I began including limericks (or reasonable facsimilies),
in some of the forecasts, as time and inspiration allowed.
The following is a compilation of the limericks from the 2004-05 season.
Note: You might have to be a Packer fan to pick up on some of the
inside jokes, and because most were written before
the game, they don't all accurately reflect what actually
occurred in each game.

Packers at Panthers
Cutting day is one for the grouch,
Who to keep and who to oust?
Practice field exhorting,
Turns to furniture sorting,
Keep the Davenport and toss the Couch.
Bears at Packers
The antics of Terrell may bring a frown,
When rivals down south roam Titletown,
He might not want to linger,
Nor show that finger,
Once the host team brings the Bear down.
Packers at Colts
After performing like Cindy,
The Pack moves on to Indy,
The Colts are home,
In the RCA dome,
Where its warm, and never windy.
Packers at Colts, Postgame
The defense had that spirit of giving,
While a dream game Peyton was living,
With the scoreboard a'whirring,
The d-backs kept twirling,
And plans for stopping looked a lot more like sieving.
Packers at Titans, Postgame
Favre, the quarterback titanium,
Found planted in turf like a geranium,
Have his wounds been mended,
Or will the streak be ended,
By such a blow to his cranium?
Packers at Lions
Who could be blamed for hitting the hooch,
Punting the kitty, or kicking the pooch?
After Monday's thrashing,
Comes a Divisional clashing,
As the Packers meet up with the Mooch.
Cowboys at Packers
On the upcoming game, here's the skinny,
Two vet'ran QBs, neither's a ninny,
One's to be feared,
By the grey of his beard,
When Sunday they meet, Brett versus Vinny.
Packers at Redskins
The Packers are singing a different tune,
Since taking off for that four-week swoon,
No candidate hyping,
The song they'll be fifing,
As they march on in to Washingtoon.
Vikings at Packers
The Pack, as a team on a mission,
Now has a crack at the division,
Lets see how they do,
'Gainst Mike Tice 'n crew,
After taking time off - gone fishin'.
Packers at Texans
While the Pack fan is known to don cheddar,
The Texan is prone to think 'imself better,
He looks quite phat,
In a ten-gallon hat,
With a wife who'd chew Skoal if he'd let'er.
Rams at Packers
He's come to be known as a downfield gunner,
A rocket launcher from backfield runner,
This muliple threat,
The iron man Brett,
Will come out firin' in number two hunn'erd.
Packers at Eagles
The Pack is alive, in the playoff mix,
Big city bound, in from the sticks,
Its back to the jungle,
The site of past bungle,
Giving it up on fourth and twenty-six.
Lions at Packers
The Pack was tarnished in that Philly choker,
Their bright green and gold is now ochre,
It'll be windy and snowy,
As they meet Mooch and Joey,
In a battle for the best of the mediocre.
Jaguars at Packers
Earning a playoff spot would be nifty,
If only the defense weren't so gifty;
Avoiding those flags,
To shut-down the Jags,
Would give Sherm a Happy Birthday Fifty.
Packers at Vikings
'Twas the day before Christmas and all through the dome,
The fans are all rabid, beginning to foam,
With horns on their heads and braids in their hair,
The morons all think they're quite debonaire,
There's Mike Tice on the sideline to add to the tension,
He's pleading his case for a contract extension,
But the scoreboard displays, clear and so bright,
To the Pack Merry Christmas and to Vikes, Say Goodnight!!
Packers at Bears (Death of Reggie White)
Though on the field he was no dove,
He joined the Pack and fit like a glove,
We ring the bell,
In sad farewell,
To the Minister of Brotherly Shove.
