2005 Packers in Limerick Form
For the past several seasons I've been sending out weather
forecasts for on-line Packer fans. I usually include a
remark, sometimes insightful, sometimes witty, sometimes just
plain wrong, about what I expect from each game. During 1996
I began including limericks (or reasonable facsimilies),
in some of the forecasts, as time and inspiration allowed.
The following is a compilation of the limericks from the 2005-06 season.
Note: You might have to be a Packer fan to pick up on some of the
inside jokes, and because most were written before
the game, they don't all accurately reflect what actually
occurred in each game.
Enjoy.

Packers at Lions
With the season nigh, dreams are inticing,
Of fullbacks grinding and receivers slicing;
We'll just hope for a win,
When the Packers drop-in,
On those folks who bring you employee pricing.
Browns at Packers
Fans of the Pack are feeling quite blue,
Since the offense decided the endzone they'd eschew,
Memories of Reggie might lift,
Everyone's feelings a bit,
Come the retirement of jersey number ninety-two.
Tampa Bay at Packers
Favre earned two more for his record vita,
Though the defense was fried, ala fajita,
In the battle of the Bay,
Whatever comes our way,
At least it won't be the Hurricane Rita.
Packers at Panthers
The Packers seek to end their slide,
After sending a kick that went left wide,
Now upon the national stage,
Time has come to turn the page,
And see if the Pack can get off the schneid.
Saints at Packers
The Pack with their offense sporadic,
Came up just short, tho' quite dramatic;
Fans now hope their first win,
Comes on the day they take in,
A team that has become quite nomadic.
Packers at Vikings
On any of ten-thousand lakes afloat,
About their parties the Vikes may gloat,
If they seem in a hurry,
There's no need to worry,
They just don't want to miss the boat!
Packers at Bengals
The Packers sure have taken some swipes,
But fallen to injuries - of many types,
They'll be takin' some heat,
When in Cinci they meet,
Fight'n Bengals, who have earned their stripes.
Steelers at Packers
At Cinci the Bengals enjoyed a free meal,
With five carp they snagged for their creel,
Now for the next show,
The Pack returns to Lambeau,
Where they'll face those men of steel.
Packers at Falcons
Another game in Green Bay finished with groans,
Have the Packers we knew been replaced by some drones?;
Now even the grits,
Might give them some fits,
When the Pack goes to Georgia to play the Falcones.
Vikings at Packers
"Prepared to start" just might be his motto,
His road to stardom like winning the lotto,
But when he gets rolling,
Its just like bowling,
Meet the Packers' new back, Samkon Gado.
Packers at Eagles
The Eagles, starting out strong, have begun to droop,
Could it be a bit of bird flu or maybe the croop?,
In time we'll see,
If it just might be,
Because ol' T.O. has flown the coop.
Packers at Bears
Ev'ry trick, scheme and twist should be in their duffel,
When the team heads south for this lakeshore scuffle,
The goal of the event,
Is to try to prevent,
The recording of another "Superbowl Shuffle".
Lions at Packers
Weeks go by still stuck on the deuce,
Vexing the fans, now hitting the hooch;
Fans the snow may sober,
When on Lambeau clover,
The Packers face the Lions, sans Mooch.
Packers at Ravens
Gado drew from Chance when things looked bleak,
Trying a pass with the shovel technique;
The Pack passed Go,
Collected their dough,
And now must ride on the Chesapeake.
Bears at Packers, Christmas Day
For fans of the Pack its been rather cruel,
Each week now it seems we're taken to school,
But if the Bears go down,
While guests of Titletown,
Then young and old will have a happy Yule.
Seahawks at Packers, New Year's Day
A loss to the Bears, aw shucks,
Questions of leaders in flux,
When Seahawks alight,
It causes some fright,
Oh well -- How 'bout them Bucks!!
