State Fair Results

September 21, 2004

It has been a very nice summer although September has been a little warm and dry. The horse flies have been terrible around here they attack the car when we drive down the drive. I even had one land on me and start biting, I don't know if I was moving too slow or smelled like a horse or both. But the dry weather may slow them down some, I hope.

I hope everyone is surviving the show and fair season. I had a great time at the Kansas State Fair. It was sure nice having the halter show, the hitch show and the pulls all together on the first two days of the fair. Special thanks to Warren and Evelyn Hiskett for the planning and keeping everything going smoothly for the shows, and thank to everyone else that helped. Thank you to Orval True for putting on the pulls. I'm sure the results and more discussion of the fair will be addressed at the fall meeting.

Don't forget the fall meeting is Saturday October 16th at Ray Taylor's place between Viola and Clearwater (Ray will provide a map). The covered dish dinner will start at noon and the meeting will follow, so please bring your favorite covered dish, your place setting and a lawn chair. We will have quite a few items to discuss during the meeting such as the increase in dues, the fair and the election of new officers and youth representative. Also if you have items for the fund raising auction we can do that too.

One other thing; several years ago we discussed having tee shirts made but we never moved forward on it, so Terrie and I decided to have some made with the association logo on them They sell for $12 for the medium through extra large sizes and $14 for the xx large. After we cover our costs the proceeds will go to the association. The KDHMA is out nothing. We will have them available at the meeting.

Our sympathy to the Hiskett family in the loss of Warren's mother and Evelyn's sister in law during the first weekend of the fair.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the fall meeting.

God Bless, Larry

Larry
