KANSAS DRAFT HORSE AND MULE ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING
February 23, 2008
The annual meeting of the Kansas Draft Horse & Mule Association was brought to order by President, Lance Fullerton, Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Montana Mikes Steak House in Hutchinson, Kansas with 32 people attending.
MINUTES: After the introduction of the officers and directors present, the president read last years minutes.
TREASURERS REPORT: Treasurers report read and approved.
STATE FAIR REPORT: In the absence of the fair directors, Warren and Evelyn Hiskett, Lance gave the State Fair report. There will be a change in the premiums offered in some events this year. For those events, three places will be offered instead of five. This should save the organization some money which we have to pay the State Fair up front. The judge for the Draft Horse Show in September 2008 will be Dennis Kuehl from Longmont, Colorado.
DIRECTORS:
- Harold Parman was re-elected as director.
- There was no nomination for youth director. Several members will look into possibilities of finding one.

NEW BUSINESS:
- The next business meeting will be held Saturday, November 8, 2008 – Time & place will be announced later.
- Field Days and hosting them were discussed.
- Caps for resale with the KDHMA logo was presented by David Blake. The members agreed to get them, but it was tabled until a decision on the sale price could be determined.
- Larry Clark stated the ads in the Draft Horse Journal ad would be $48.00 and if
- anyone interested in placing an ad could contact him or any board member.
- The president read the letter from the city of Parsons and the formation of the Southeast Kansas Farm History Center and the creation of a living history center. Our organization was asked to help in the draft horse activities.
- Sam Bontrager announced that after 25 years in the harness business, he will be retiring March 1st and passing the business on to his son-in-law & daughter David & Katie Knepp.
- Coming events were announced. (They will be listed in the Newsletter.)
Larry Clark motioned for adjournment, seconded by Linda Bocovich. Meeting adjourned At 1:30 p.m.
Followed by the auction. The income: $394.50
