The fifteenth annual Horse Progress Days were held on July 4th and 5th in Mt. Hope, Ohio. It seemed to be a resounding success, as there appeared to several of us that the attendance was much larger that any before, there were lots more vendors, there were a lot of activities for kids, and the weather mostly co-operated. There was some rain on the day before and the ground was pretty wet in places, the skies threatened most of the day on Friday, but there were only some sprinkles. The temperatures were relatively mild for the season. All in all everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
For anyone who doesn't know about Horse Progress Days, it started basically as a trade show for those interested in horse farming. It was a place where interested parties could see machinery and other horse related items in a working atmosphere. It has grown into more than that today with seminars on a wide rang of topics, horse training sessions, logging equipment demonstrations, and even this year some free driving lessons. Some of the focus seems to be not only on horse farming, but small farming in general. Of course we can't forget the wonderful food!!
If you are at all interested in horse farming then you need to make plans to attend next years event which is scheduled for southern Indiana.
