John Loyd - b. on old Christmas Day 1704 in London Eng. (Before the calendar was reformed, England celebrated Christmas on the equivalent of the 6th of January by our modern, Gregorian reckoning. That is why in some parts of Great Britain people still call the 6th of January, Old Christmas Day. A Calendar Act was passed in 1751 which stated that in order to bring England into line, the day following the 2nd of September 1752 was to be called the 14th, rather than the 3rd of September. Unfortunately, many people were not able to understand this simple maneuver and thought that the government had stolen eleven days of their lives. In some parts there were riots and shouts of 'give us back our eleven days! ) John was an apprentice boot and shoemaker; his father was born in Wales. After returning home one day to find his wife and small child dead he lost it and moved to America for a new beginning. Landed in Baltimore in 1726. Remarried Prudence Emery in 1742. They settled to Frederick Co. VA. and had seven children, Thomas, John, Alcey, Linda, George Emery, James and Joseph.

James Loyd - b. Sept 14, 1752 in Frederick Co. VA. He and his brother John married the Stuard (Steward) sisters. James married Mary in 1791; they had seven children Lydia, Rachel, Sally, Frances, George, John and Thomas. In 1773 James moved with brother John to Pittsylvania County, Va. In 1775 he enlisted in local continental militia. In 1781, Mar 15 he participated in Battle against Cornwallis at Guilford Courthouse, Va. Around 1785 along with his brother John, his family and the Stuard families along with one other family moved to Hancock County Georgia. They received land at the rate of 200 acres for head of household and 50 extra acres for each dependent. They lived there for aprox 20 years before moving to Clarke County. After living in Clarke County for less than 2 years he purchased property in Randolph County (Jasper County) on Aug 14th 1811. In the Headright and Bounty Lands of Georgia Book KKK page 324 it states that James receive d 200 acres in Wilkes County, GA for his service during the Revolutionary War. The 1823 tax digest shows James Loyd, Sr. owning 202 1/2 acres of land in Jasper Co GA land lot 71 dist 13. He also has 250 acres in Habersham Co GA land lot 103 dist 3. The 1824 tax digest of Fayette Co GA shows James owning 202 1/2 acres in land, lot 92 dist 7, of Fayette Co. The 1827 tax digest of Fayette Co GA shows James owns 202 1/2 acres in lot 90 dist 7 and 50 acre s in lot 91 dist 7. James died in 1830 and is buried in the Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Fayette County.

George Washington Loyd - b. 1780 in Henry Co. VA. D. Feb 22nd 1872, Married Polly Tankersley Sept 25th 1805 in Clarke County GA. In 1814 they purchased land near Newborn GA in Jasper and Morgan Counties.  They had children Alfred, Green Berry, George Washington II and John Emory. and is buried in the Loyd family cemetery near  Newborn GA.

George Washington Loyd II - b. Feb 5th 1810 Clark County GA d. Feb 17th 1892. Married Poebe Paul Lumsden (b. Mar 16th 1819 d. Dec 21st 1867) both are buried in Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Newton County GA. They had nine children, John Wesley, Mary, George Washington III, Ozias Asbury, James William Columbus, Susan, Missouri Florence, Robert Lovett and Alice.   

George was Appointed 3d Corporal of Co. H, 6th Regiment Ga. State Troops October 21,1861. Roll dated April 16,1862, last on file, shows him present. Mustered out in 1862. Enlisted as a private in Co. B, 53d Regiment Ga. Inf. May 1, 1862. Wounded May 1863. On detached service in Brigade Quartermaster Dept. February 1865. Pension records show he surrendered at Appomattox, Va. April 9,1865. Co. B, 53d Regiment Ga. Inf. Company B -South River Farmers (Newton County) 53rd Regiment, Georgia Infantry - 53rd Infantry Regiment completed its organization during the spring of 1862. Its companies were form Fayette, Baker, Mitchell, Quitman, and Jasper counties. It was soon ordered to Virginia and assigned to General Semmes', Bryan's, and Simms' Brigade, Army of Northern Virginia. The unit fought with the army from Seven Days' Battles to Gettysburg, then accompanied Longstreet to Georgia. However, it did not arrive in time to share in the conflict at Chickamauga. After serving at Knoxville, the 53rd was involved in the Battles of The Wilderness, Spotsylvania, and Cold Harbor, Early's operations in the Shenandoah Valley, and the Appomattox Campaign. The regiment reported 10 casualties at Malvern Hill , lost twenty-nine percent of the 276 at Sharpsburg, and there were 15 killed and 105 wounded at Chancellorsville. It lost twenty-one percent of the 422 engaged at Gettysburg, had many disabled at Sayler's Creek, and surrendered with no officers and 64 men.

Ozias Asbury Loyd - b. May 3rd 1846 in Newton County GA. d. Sept 18th 1916 Married Mary Letitia Cowen (b. Feb 15, 1846 d. Dec 4th 1907) Sept 26th 1865.  They had seven children, Ella (m. B. Christian), Laura (m. Homer Edwards), Cora (m. E.D. Carr), William Dodge (m. Mollie Polk), Allie (m. Wood Piper), Oscar (m. Odessa Cargal) and Lucilla (m. David Fry) Asbury was a very accomplished carpenter. In 1895 he built a large home for Dr Hicks of Oak Hill Ga with very intricate lattice work, multiple porches and balconies. This house still stands today beside GA HWY 20 in Oak Hill. Asbury was buried along with Mary in Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Newton County GA.

William Dodge Loyd - b. Oct 21st 1875 in Newton, part that later became Rockdale County d. Jan 24th 1935.   Married Mary (Mollie) Jane Polk, b.Sept 22nd 1882, d Oct 21st 1975, on Nov 23rd 1899 in Jasper County. They had Mary Estelle b.08-29-00 d. 03-14-85 (m. Crawford Elliott 2nd time), Cora Belle b.08-28-02 d.06-13-94 (m. Bolden Waters), Mamye Pelline b.04-18-05 d. 05-24-95 (m. Louie Huff), Minnie Pearl b.04-28-07 (m. Frank Lynch), William Oscar b. 08-08-09 d. 1911 and Idus Barto b. Aug 29th 1911, d. Apr 20 2000, (m. Elizabeth xxxx). Will is buried in the Williams-Payne Family Cemetery, Jasper County GA along with Mollie.

Idus B Loyd - b. Aug 29th 1911 in Jasper County. d. Apr 20 2000, Married Elizabeth xxxx April 22nd 1928, d Jan 15th 2001. Had two sons, William Idus Sr and Lonnie that died at birth and is buried in the Williams-Payne Family Cemetery in Jasper Co GA. Idus and Liz are buried at the Westview Cemetery - Monticello GA

William Idus Loyd Sr. - b. July 13th 1934 in Jasper County GA. Married Sylvia xxxx on Aug 29th 1953, they still live in Hillsboro GA. . They have one son, William Idus Jr.

William Idus Loyd Jr. - b. Jan 1st 1956 in Jasper County GA. Married Loraine xxxx Dec 13th 1974. I have one son, William "Will" James and one step-son, Adam Urquhart. I Married Cynthia xxxx on May 29th 1987. Lives with wife Cindy in Macon GA.

William James Loyd - b. July 24th 1975 in Newton County GA. Married Tiffany xxxxx on Feb 17th 1995. They have three sons, Forest Matthew, Lucas Glynn and Cole, they live in Concord GA.

Forrest Mathew Loyd - b. June 1st 1996 in Okinawa Japan (Kadena AFB)  

Lucas Glynn Loyd - b. Nov 19th 2004 at the Upson County Hospital.

Cole Liam Loyd - b. 12:50 PM, Dec 12th 2008 at the Upson County Hospital.
