Teaching Experience

Adjunct Professor
Johnson and Wales University, Providence, RI, Fall 2005 to present.
Currently teaching two sections of freshman composition, a required class covering basic elements of writing, from grammar to critical thinking. 

Instructor
Trinity Western University, Langley, British Columbia, Spring 2004.
Taught two sections of “Introduction to Literature: The Novel and Drama.” This class functioned as the TWU’s required first year composition class with a heavy emphasis on writing.  Responsible for all aspects of class: designing the syllabus, choosing texts, lecturing, leading discussions, preparing exams, grading.

Graduate Teaching Associate
The Ohio State University, 2001 – 2003.
Taught various college courses including First Year Composition, Intermediate Composition, Fiction (workshop format), Introduction to English Language (linguistics and grammar for education majors).  Responsible for designing the syllabi, choosing texts, lecturing, leading discussions, grading.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
Campus Minister at Brown University 1989 – 2000; Yale University 1986-1989.
For the 14 years between college and graduate school, I served as a campus minister, responsible to create a safe environment for (50 - 70) students from a diversity of ethnic and religious backgrounds to investigate spiritual concerns and develop relational, life, and leadership skills.  At Brown, I oversaw a ministry team of up to eight staff and was responsible for programming, administration, fundraising, teaching, training staff, and designing/directing service projects in South Providence and Mexico.
