"THE CANDYMAN"
Update: 12:24 AM 7/9/2006
Greetings everyone!
Wow! How time flies! It's amazing how widely things can change in a year's time. Things have been non-stop since June '05, and I have several things to update you on.
First off, I've expanded my journal to include some more of my experiences from last year's travels with FORGIVEN. This new journal will allow you to have a more in-depth look at the life of a traveling quartet. You can access it by clicking here. If you enjoy my journal, please send me an email and let me know.
Second, there are several new projects available for your enjoyment. Here's a list:
Mary McCollum - "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" CD
Master's Voice - "10th Anniversary Reunion" CD & DVD
The Southern Gospel Quartet FORGIVEN - "Our Kind Of Christmas" CD
The Southern Gospel Quartet FORGIVEN - "Still Feelin' Fine" CD
The Southern Gospel Quartet FORGIVEN - "The Early Years" 25th Anniversary CD
The Tulsans Quartet - "20th Anniversary" Collector's Edition CD
The Tulsans Quartet - "Magnify Him" CD
The Tulsans Quartet - "REUNION!" DVD
The Tulsans Quartet - "Vintage Collection - Volume 4" CD
And coming soon:
The Tulsans Quartet - "20th Anniversary Celebration" DVD
The next item entales big change for me. After successfully operating a vending business for 10 years, my tenure as a vendor has come to an end. My brother and sister-in-law in Kansas City, MO opened a franchise of a business and asked me to help them get it off the ground. As a result, for the past couple of months I have been spending most of my time in the Kansas City, Missouri. Even though I have been spending most of my time away from Tulsa, I have still been coming back home a couple times a month. And I am still as passionate about Southern Gospel Music as ever. Candyman Productions is still going strong. In fact, for a while, I had almost overtaken the entire lower-level of his house and filled it with empty jewel cases and CDs. Candyman Productions is still be your source for high-end audio and video production and CD and DVD duplication. In fact, I guess we could say my territory has expanded. On a bit of a side note, I am looking forward to expanding my friendship with Phil and Pam Morgan, who also live in the Kansas City area.
The next item is still rather hard for me to write. My move to Kansas City was a great opportunity, but it did have a rather large cost involved. After traveling with Forgiven for 16 months, I count them as some of my closest friends. But sadly, I had to resign from traveling with them as their "not-so" sound man, effective at the end of 2005. The decision was considerably easier for me to close down the vending route (which had been my primary occupation for 10 years) than it was to resign from this fine group of guys. Thanks Mark, Mark, Scott, Stanley, and families for the memories, the opportunity, and the friendships! I love you all, and you are already greatly missed!
On a brighter note, since my last update, I have had the opportunity to participate in or video three anniversary concerts for three of my favorite groups. Master's voice celebrated 10 years on August 6, 2005, The Tulsans celebrated 20 years on November 19, 2005, And The Southern Gospel Quartet Forgiven celebrated 25 years on June 24, 2006.
Recently, I've had the opportunity to spend several evenings with the members from Master's Voice as we've been editing and mixing the audio and video for their 10th Anniversary Reunion DVD. What an extremely fun and talented group they are! And yes, Ricky is as crazy in real life as he is on stage. I would like to encourage you to support their ministry! Not only are they a riot to be around, but they are amazing witnesses for the Lord, both on and off stage.
The Tulsans 20th Anniversary celebration was a nice success! Candyman Productions recorded the memorable evening, and video copies will available for purchase after it completes the post-production process. Thanks to all who participated in this great night! Congratulations Tulsans! You guys are GREAT!
Forgiven's 25th Anniversary celebration concert was held in Ponca City, OK. I came back to Oklahoma that weekend to be a part of the festivities, and had a blast! Their heritage is amazing!
On a bit of a side note, I want to take a moment and thank five specific groups for their friendships and encourage them and others in their quest. For the past several weeks, I had been missing the degree of involvement with Southern Gospel Music that had become such an important part of my life while I was in Tulsa. Interestingly enough, it seemed to really kick in when I met Forgiven on the highway just west of Joplin, MO. They were on their way back home after singing in Branson and I was making my way back to Kansas City after spending a couple days in Tulsa. Kansas City seems to be a very contemporary area. In fact, the only hymns I heard until recently were the ones I played on my computer. Just within the past couple of weeks I attended three different concerts that have really blessed me. The first concert was Forgiven's 25th Anniversary Celebration. This concert was such a special concert because of my involvement with them. The second was the next morning with The Tulsans. The spirit of God was in control of that service, and they guys got out of the way and let Him minister the way HE wanted. The third was just a few days later on thursday. Phil and Pam Morgan hosted a concert with The George Amon Webster Trio. This was the first time I got to see them perform in almost a year. In between these concerts I also got to enjoy an occasional phone call from Master's Voice. These concerts and phone calls helped me realize just how important this music and the people who sing it are to me. So Forgiven, George Amon Webster Trio, Master's Voice, Phil and Pam Morgan, and Tulsans, THANK YOU for answering the call! Mark, Mark, Scott, Stanley, George, Jackie, Todd, Ricky, David, John, Drew, Phil, Pam, Doc, Scott, Doug, Doyle, and Pam, you have touched my life in a way that you may not have realized, and it is GREATLY appreciated! Keep up the GOOD fight! Someone needs to hear the message that only you can deliver!
Well, I guess that's all for now. Until next time, may God bless and keep you and yours! Have a great one!
