Dwayne
“Keola” Santos
It is said that Keola is one of Hawaii’s premier falsetto
singers. Keola got started at a very young age living in
Kailua Oahu “Keolu Hills”.
With his mother being a Kumu Hula for many years and his father
being half Hawaiian they both taught Keola Hawaiian music and
made sure that he understood the importance of never forgetting
his culture and always perpetuating Hawaiian Music to the
fullest. Throughout the years living in Honolulu, Keola has
played with many different musicians and groups such as Rupert
Tripp, Kuhio Yim, Joey Barros, Pu’ukani, Ke Kani Leo Hou just to
name a few. Keola also recorded for the first time with Kahale
Music and the group Pu’ukani on the Voyager CD before leaving
for his new endeavor in Las Vegas with his wife Rowena whom he
married in 1992. Moving to Las Vegas proved to be a challenge
for Keola in the Hawaiian music industry because of the vast
cultural change. But through the years he has been able to touch
many lives through Hawaiian music by performing at local
restaurants and Hawaiian events “Ho’olaulea’s, May Day’s, and
Grand Openings.
Never to rest on his laurels, Keola continues to lend his time
and incredible musical and vocal talents to anyone who may call
for a backyard luau or Hawaiian venue. Keola has donated his
time to help numerous Halau’s in their fund-raising efforts
through concert preparation and performances at the
Annual Las
Vegas May Day event at the California Hotel.
Keola has also been a part of a group in Las Vegas better known
as Hawaiian Soul with members Janoe Kalawa and Steve Ventic.
Hawaiian Soul Has recorded songs such as Get Up, Get Up and
Wailele O Akaka Falls, Kai Mana Hila, and Let It Be Me.
And now finally “Keola Ho’omana’o” is now here for all to enjoy.
With the traditional sound of Hawaiian music ringing through the
air, Keola has now come full circle. With traditional songs such
as Kalamaula, I Kona, Sanoe, and up tempo songs as Holoholo Ka’a,
Aloha Kamanini, and Kai Mana Hila, and songs that just take you
home like Ua Mau Ke ea O Ka Aina I Ka Pono. Keola has touched so
many lives with his choice of songs that each song will leave
you waiting for more. And if you are wondering, yes he even has
the remake version of I’ll Leave This World Loving You.
So sit back and enjoy Hawaiian music at it’s best.
