Cessation of Membership Member families no longer desiring membership in Koinonia Homeschoolers may notify the secretary and request removal. Membership fees are non-refundable. Those who cease to agree with or abide by the above guidelines of membership or the Policies and Procedures, or in some way bring disrepute on Koinonia, shall be Biblically confronted by fellow members for restoration. If un-reconciled, the issue will be brought before the entire group for possible exclusion from membership.
Visitors Christian home schoolers who are not members of the Koinonia community are welcome to attend workshops and other special functions, if space permits, but they must conduct themselves according to the Koinonia Code of Conduct. Non-members may only sign-up for a field trip on the final day of sign-ups and a non-member fee will apply.
Park Day and Family Day We will meet weekly at Roadrunner Park at 36th Street and Cactus, from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M each Wednesday. Attendance at park day is recommended for all members because this is an important time to let the children play together and the parents to get to know each other. We really stress attendance at Park Day. This is the only way you will feel connected to this community of homeschoolers. We also have Family days once a month. The monthly Family Day meeting will be the held on the last weekend of each month. This meeting is held on either Saturday or Sunday, so the entire member family can attend. The Family Day meeting is when group business will be discussed and voted on. All members who attend are allowed to vote. There is one vote per family. The Family Day meeting will be facilitated by the Park Day Facilitator. Any issue can be brought up by any member for the group to consider. Issues will be discussed. Then the meeting facilitator will ask if anyone wants to table the issue till the next monthly meeting. Any member may table an issue. If the issue is tabled, it will be brought up at the next monthly meeting for discussion and a vote. If the issue is not tabled, it will be immediately voted on by the members in attendance. To pass an issue, requires 2/3 of the votes cast. Voting in the affirmative only indicates that the voter thinks it is OK for Koinonia to support and participate in the activity or issue.
Directory information Each family in the community will receive a copy of the Koinonia Directory at the start of each new-year. This is a list of all members, addresses, and telephone numbers. Information changes will be published in the newsletter. Due to privacy issue, please do not release directory information to non-members.
Field Trips and Workshops Field trips will be planned twice a month. Any member family can and is encouraged to plan a field trip. The field trip family will host the field trip. This includes advertising the RSVP date via newsletter, email or phone chain, collecting any money that is involved and distributing the field trip information. (I.e.; location, time, etc.) Please coordinate all field trips with the Calendar/Field Trip Facilitator, so we prevent scheduling conflicts.
Attendance 1. Please be punctual for every fieldtrip/workshop. 2. Each student is to be accompanied by a parent on every fieldtrip/workshop, unless otherwise specified. 3. Koinonia is not a drop off support group. 4. If a parent cannot attend, let the field trip coordinator know who will be responsible for your children. 5. Sick children should not attend fieldtrips or workshops.
Non-homeschooled children are welcome at Park Day and field trips if their families are members of the group. Monthly NewsletterThe newsletter will be distributed at the monthly Family Day meeting. It will contain information about fieldtrips, meetings, and special functions. The newsletter will also keep the members updated on what’s going on in the community. i.e.; Family news, prayer requests, etc. Please have the information you want published in the newsletter to the Newsletter/Typist by the second Friday of the month.
