Mars Ravelo
The late Mars Ravelo was one of the pioneers of the so-called Golden Age of Filipino Comics in the 1950s. Ravelo started out as a cartoonist and writer. He has published more than 200 projects which has led to a number of movies based on his characters. Mars created Dyesebel, Lastikman, and Kaptain Barbell - characters that continue to endure in the Philippine culture and entertainment. He is also credited with such classics as Darna, Maruja, Roberta, Bondying, and Torpe.

Nestor Redondo 1928-1995
Nestor Redondo was born in Candon, Ilocos Sur,
in the Philippines in 1928. Originally trained as an architect, in the 1950s
Nestor Redondo joined his brothers in the Philippines comics business. Nestor's
popularity skyrocketed when he was commissioned to illustrate the blockbuster
series 'Darna' in the early 1950s. He went on to become one of the most highly
respected of artists in the Philippines and founded a studio where nearly every
major Filipino artist of the time apprenticed under him. In the early 1970s
Redondo began working for DC comics in the U.S., where he illustrated Tarzan and
Swamp Thing. In 1979 he received the prestigious Ink Pot Award at the San Diego
Convention. In 1985, Nestor Redondo started working for Marvel Comics,
illustrating 'Conan' and painting covers. He also did animation work for the
Marvel Animation Studios in Los Angeles.

Edgar Soller d. 2001
Edgar Soller is a political cartoonist and a multi-award winning artist whose work has been exhibited worldwide. A collection of his work, "The World of Edgar Soller", was published in 1978. His "Plain Folks", a daily cartoon panel was syndicated in the United States by Allied Press International from 1980 to 1983. His cartoons and illustrations have been published and reprinted in the Los Angeles Times, People Magazine, California Examiner, The World Reporter, The Philippines Daily Express, and The Philippines Herald. Soller also worked in animation as a character designer and storyboard artist for Ruby-Spears Productions, a division of Hanna-Barbera, which produced Saturday morning shows like Thundarr the Barbarian, Plastic Man, Heathcliff, Dingbat and the Creeps, Mighty Man and Yukk, Scruffy, Fangface, Baby Plas, and the Pigsburg Pigs. Books that include his editorial cartoons are, "The 1970's: Best Political Cartoons of the Decade", edited by Jerry Robinson, McGraw Hill; "Taking Liberty With the Lady", edited by Dani Aguila, EagleNest Publishing; and the "Best Editorial Cartoons" annual anthology book edited by Charles Brooks, Pelican Publishing. Soller illustrated more than 270 cartoons for a book, "Honestly Abe: A Cartoon ExposZØ on Abraham Lincoln", written by Charles Brame and published by ABE Press. Drawing from his experience as a former dancer with the famed Bayanihan Philippine Folk Dance Company for more than ten years, Soller painted a series of Filipino folk dances entitled, "Dances of My People".

Wilson Tortosa
Wilson "Wunan" Tortosa was born on October 30, 1977 in Manila and grew up in the Tondo area. He studied Fine Arts/Advertising at the University of Santo Tomas and worked as a part-time book illustrator. In 2000, he started working in the comics business through David Campiti of GlassHouseGraphics. After completing early designs for Black Shinju for Wildstorm, Wilson quickly moved on to Exposure at Avatar, Black Rose and MIA 99 at Galaxy, Jade and other characters at Chaos, the upcoming BANZAI GIRL, and BATTLE OF THE PLANETS for Top Cow.

Noel Tuazon
Noel Tuazon was born in the Philippines in 1966 but has lived in Toronto, Canada for almost 30 years. His comics have appeared in Steve Bissette's 'Taboo Especial', Dennis Eichorn's 'Real Stuff,' 'Reactor Girl,' and Slave Labor Graphics' 'Arianne,' a two-issue comic written by Rafael Nieves. He has also been featured in Canada's National Post newspaper and the children's magazine Cricket. In the past 3 years, he has immersed himself in animation, concentrating on storyboarding and character design for companies such as Nelvana Studios.
Randy Valiente
At the age of 14, Randy Valiente started as a comics illustrator in 1988. He became a full-time writer/novelist in 1995 and wrote many stories and articles for comics, pocketbooks, tabloids, magazines, radio and theatre. He won several awards in literature, and became "Novelist of the Year" and "Best Playwright". Randy conducted several workshops for the last four years. His workshops includes dynamic human figure drawing, comics illustration for beginners, and novel writing. A proud student of Mr. Hal Santiago, Philippines' finest comics illustrator. His soon to be released book entitled "Pambalot ng Tinapa (Isang Pagtanaw sa Komiks ng Pilipino)" (Smoked Fish Wrapper: An In-depth Look at Filipino Comics) published by Goodwill Bookstore. Topics include history of the comics industry, the artists behind the novels including the top caliber writers. The book also tells Randy's past experiences, the lessons he learned from his mentor, and his fight to preserve the dying filipino comics industry. He's currently working for his new book "Malikhaing Komiks" (Creative Comics).
