Danny Erbe began his horseshoe pitching career in the Kansas State Tournament by placing 3rd in Class B in his initial appearance. Danny then began a run of 16 straight years in the Championship Class of the Kansas State Tournament. He was crowned the Kansas State Champion in three of those years, topping the field in 1986, 1992 and 1993. His best ringer percentage was 71.0 while compiling a perfect 11-0 record in winning the 1992 tournament. Danny threw a fairly low 1¼ turn shoe while pitching the Deadeye horseshoe. Danny totaled 125 wins verses only 51 losses during his Championship Class run. He is the son of fellow horseshoe pitcher Monte Erbe and learned the sport at a young age. Danny also won many local tournaments in Kansas and surrounding areas. Danny served the Kansas State Horseshoe Pitchers Association as its Vice President in 1982 and also served as President in 1983 and 1984. For his outstanding, consistent record in the Kansas State Tournament over his 17-year career and for his three Kansas State Men’s Championships, Danny Erbe was elected into the Kansas State Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame in 1994 as a Player.
