Marvin Reheis began playing in the Kansas State Tournament in the late 1950s and capped his career by winning the Kansas State Men’s Championship in 1963. The exact number of his Championship appearances are unknown at this time because some of the individual records of the late 1950s are missing; however, since 1960 Marvin has appeared in 21 Championship Classes at the Kansas State Tournament. His best ringer percentage was 68.4 percent ringers, accomplished in 1963 when he captured the title. Marvin was a resident of Douglass, Kansas, when he won his state title. He later moved to Wichita where he has been a long-time member of the Air Capitol Horseshoe Club. Marvin throws a 1¾ turn shoe and sometimes stood on the opposite (right hand) side of the court to throw. Marvin is married to fellow Hall of Fame member Deanie Reheis, the only couple to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Marvin has also represented Kansas several times in the World Tournament. For his long-time playing career, including winning the 1963 Kansas State Men’s Horseshoe pitching title, Marvin Reheis was elected into the Kansas State Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame in 1985 as a player. Following is a summary of Marvin’s Championship Class records in the Kansas State Tournament.
